I figure I would make this a seperate post from collection of personal images and video.

My friend took this image of me shooting the last round of a Garand. I have circled both the stripper clip and the round. Not bad for a digital camera.

Or you find something that makes the same noise as the clip flying out, and make the sound a couple times. Enemy pops out to shoot guys reloading. Enemy = Dead. I heard that was used a few time in WW2

Between the grenades thrown, other American's shooting, other Axis soldier's shooting, and whatever else is going off, can anyone really hear that little ping from across the field? The ol' attack after you hear the ping is one of those urban legends right up there with hearing the velcro on your mag pouch during a reload.

Is that one of the new M1's Springfield Armory is making? How's it run? Is it finicky with ammo, or did they fix that problem?

The Receiver is pre-1950, has the second sight package (the first one sucked and had problems). The the barrel and wood furniture have all been replaced post-50.

No problem loading it.

The guy that brought it down is my Dad's age and collects older, pre-1960 modern firemarms. Supposedly his collection is huge. There is a video of the Garand on my website taken the same momment this photo was taken if you want to watch that.

yeah, i definitely heard this on the History Channel.

they don't find something that makes the same noise, but they just use an empty clip to make the sound.

i think this tactic was mainly used in the pacific theater where there would be fighting across 50m areas with trenches and barriers (like the beach head). originally, the japs recognized that the sound meant that the u.s. soldiers were out of ammunition, and then they just popped up out of their embankment and shot the u.s. troop.

You know, the spring noise of the stripper clip popping really is more of an urban legend than truth. There may have been soome VERY isolated cases of this, but it certainly was not the norm.
