"Reports (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=573&e=14&u=/nm/odd_rumsfeld_dc) that say something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know...

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns the ones we don't know we don't know."

Nearly 80 percent of Iraqis have little or no trust in U.S.-led occupying forces and most place their faith in religious leaders instead, according to a major survey published in Britain on Monday. Nearly half regard the removal of former president Saddam Hussein as the best thing to have happened in the last 12 months while a third said the war, bombings and defeat of the Iraqi army in April was the worst. What are the two guns carried by the soldiers in the far front and far rear? And is it a silencer attached to the M16 and if so why?

Is there a reason they have chosen M16's over AK's or is it just a case of whatever they can get thier hands on?

striker
12-02-2003, 08:49 AM
I think I've seen that used once. It's basically a barrel extension for an over calibre rubber bullet. The idea is you chamber a blank and load a rubber bullet from the muzzle. You have one none-lethal shot. If things get nasty- you are already pointing a full working gun with a mag full of real bullets at your opponent. If that rubber bullet didn't take him down the next one will.

Called in Israeli Mini-Galil , or Glilon. Very reliable weapond , and except it's weight (bellieve me , this one is damn heavy !! ) , very reliable weapond. Used in Israel primary by Tankers and Artyllery soldiers , as they don't have a need to carry light weapons , like infantry (Also used by Rear forces , and headquarters troops in it's long+short versions ) .
So , the soldier infront must be a tanker , or artyllery soldier used as an infantry man . The one in back have m16a3 m203 , and no , it's not a silencer (what the hell you were thinking...) !!!! :petting:
It's device containing non-lethal rubber bullets inside . It's dressed on the gun , and with specially non bullet rounds in his magazine he shoots them out .
In many cases on the weapon belt soldiers have the names of they units , but i can't see what's written there , co i can't tell you which unit they are from .. I would like very much to guess that those are tankers .

And is it a silencer attached to the M16 and if so why?
Yeah, I'd have to agree with what someone already said, its definitly some part of their "less-than lethal" arsenal. From what I've seen, however, the Israelis paint the mags filled with blanks for this red, so it obviously doesn't prevent regular rounds from being fired.

And is it a silencer attached to the M16 and if so why?
No I've seen that attachment before and I'm almost 100% sure its a rifle grenade adapter or something similar.I have to respectively disagree with you, for I am almost a 100% sure that its an attachment that you then put in rubber bullets..........how do I know??? well because I was in the IDF and I used them!!!
