I'm looking for info about a War where in 56 French Divisions refused to follow orders and lead to their loss. I read it once in the Guiness Book of Records for the most number of dessertion.

Hope you guys could fill me in on this. Thanks :oops:

thats the great dessertion in world war 1.

And no, its no de to cowardice. Its due to the fact that french officers were fcuking over their men and sending alot of good soldiers to their deaths...

Sorry didn't mention about being cowards... According to the book, they refused to follow a certain Marshal. Anyway what happened next? Did they recover, have the marshal replaced? what???

i cant find the exact statistics but the marshall was canned and the ringleaders were shot

I think you refer to the mutiny that took place in 1917 in the IWW. I suppose you just used google and you couldn´t find anything. Of what I know, in the mutiny were involved the half of french divisions, that were in the rearguard in a number of around 50 divisions, they were troops that had faced many fights, while the poilus in the front didn´t left their weapons and they held their positions. The mutiny was liquidated with extreme hardness. [/i]
