Good kit.
The SAPI plates are described as boron-carbide, I know our CBA plates are described as ceramic - is this the same stuff?
I first remember getting CBA in the very late 80's on a trial and it doesn't seem to have changed since - any rumours arround of a replacement?
I did a quick Google search and found that it's a combination of boric acid and carbon formed in an electric arc furnace, and it's the third hardest material next to diamonds and cubic boron nitrate.

I was angered by the fact that the Pentagon sent so many people into battle w/o the right equipment. The U.S. has the one of the most highly trained, professional and proficient militaries in history. We are certainly the most technologically advanced. Another example - i have a brother in law serving with the 1st AD right now. What is his most common request from home? Toilet paper...
It's a shame.

I have to say... being a veteran from the Iraqi War... we had all the equipment we needed. Maybe not the BEST, but it worked. My unit had no problems with any shortage of equipment

James, we've been putting boxes together at work and at my sons' school to send to the troops over there. I actually got some very nice letters back from some of the troops. A lot of the boxes found there way to, from what I deduced from the letters, Special Forces teams in Afghanistan. More than a few made jokes about how ten boxes will leave NY, one will get kept by someone in the US, three will get jacked at either Ramstein or the seaports, three more at the in-country airport or seaport, and two more by the headquarters folks, resulting in only 1 box actually getting to them.
Anyways, getting back to the toilet paper point; we were sure to pack lots of it, and other simple things that are often forgotten. By the way, have you ever been overseas when the TP runs low? Usually an...unconventional time.
Have a good one, and just some thoughts...

Yes... I got in the habit of taking a fresh, fluffy roll of TP in a ziploc whenever I was able. I learn quickly. ;)
