Russian-made taxis will soon be running alongside tanks and armoured vehicles on the streets of Iraq.
An order for 5,000 Volga cars was placed before the US invaded in March and the first batch has just been delivered, according to *******.

The Volga is produced by Russia's Gaz and was built to survive harsh winters, hot summers and rough handling.

The trade embargo placed on the country during the past decade meant there was limited access to everything from life-saving drugs to chocolate.

The country's current fleet of taxis consists of 1980s Volkswagens and Nissans

"Our team is at the Jordanian port of Aqaba receiving the first 300 Volgas."

woot

"VOLGA", ah so many sweet memories.... I'm getting so emotional right now.

GAZ 24 was the first car I drove, I was 14 and took it without permission from my dad. It also taught me some basic car mechanic functions, you have to be one in order to drive VOLGA.
VOLGAs are the most indestructible cars I know: you can literary fix it with the sledge hammer, fuel it up with almost raw oil and it will get you there.
An iteresting fact: I get as much adrenaline driving Lexus at 145mph as I did driving Volga at 90 kmh :)
