He219,

You should get paid for your tremendous work and dedication to this forum. It now seems you are on a H24 duty ? Thus your "name" (He219 is a WWII area German night fighter airplane nicknamed" Uhu" or Owl) ;) ??

http://www.debka.com/photos/738.jpg
About the new "caged" Stryker, I have carefully read the article. As most on this Forum I am not a professional military expert and I will wait the operational deployment to see how it performs.

But it raises some questions to me :

- won't this "crinoline" reduce the mobility by adding extra witdh that would prevent the vehicle to go through narrow city streets ? Thus cancelling one of the main advantage of a smaller vehicle over heavier and larger AFVs. The article told they build a mock-up "Middle East" village to test it but at first glance this is an issue to me.

- won't this "crinoline" be a nice "acces ladder" to some bad guys coming close enough to fast climb and drop some explosive device ? Like we see the kids in Ghaza ?

- what is the position of the Israeli experts that know a thing or two about APCs in urban warfare ? Why the US ARMY is doing different instead of using the knowledge of the Israelis (I can't remember seeing such a RPG fence on up-protected M-113s like the Zelda) ?

That's all for today :D

Range depends entirely upon payload composition and model type. There are added fuel tank possibilities for each wing and/or one at the centerline along with various armaments and two seat aircraft. All are variables for range and performance. The pilot is responsible for calculating aircraft weights, loads and operational parameters given various mission orientated configuarations. Late model F-16's utilize add-on Conformal Fuel Tanks written about in the F16I and Desert Falcon threads...
:)

Did you notice the same tanker number on the boom of the A-10 and F-16 pic's??

Its a well known fact Omaha was the toughest beach on D-Day. But that doesnt mean the others were cakewalks(although i have heard that there were only 15 men killed or 15 casualties on Utah). The Canadian Claim to fame on d-day was the fact that they advanced the farthest inland.

Thank you Schus. I respect Evan's grandpa for fighting on Juno, like I said it was the second most fortified beach. The Canadians suffered 1,200 casualties, which is quite alot.

Oh and Utah was the easiest, had less than 300 casualties.

Geez! This is how you argue? Ad hominems and appeals to authority? What about actual evidence?

One of you has "4 years" of experience and the other has "since i could read". How long is that? To judge by your spelling skills, maybe six months? <heavy sarcasm> ;) And your "first hand accounts" I rule inadmissable as hearsay. Have you actually been to the beaches?
