The Protector is an integrated naval combat system, based on unmanned, autonomous, remotely-controlled surface vehicles. Highly maneuverable and stealthy, the Protector can conduct a wide spectrum of critical missions, while eliminating unnecessary risk to personnel and capital assets.
The Protector's anti-terror mission module payload includes sensors and weapon systems. The search radar and the Toplite electro-optical (EO) pod serve for detection, identification and targeting. The weapon systems are based on RAFAEL's Typhoon remote-controlled, stabilized weapon station, capable of operating various small caliber guns. The stabilized weapon station is highly accurate, yielding excellent hit-and-kill probability.

The Protector is mission reconfigurable through its plug-and-play design, allowing utilization of various mission modules, such as Force protection Anti-terror surveillance and reconnaissance, Mine Warfare (MIW), Electronic Warfare (EW) and precision strikes.
Protector USV is jointly developed with Aeronautics Defense Systems Ltd.

So is there much of a threat to Israel from the sea these days?yes all the time there is a huge threat from terrorist infiltration from the sea. Throughout the years, there have been many attempts (and a few successful ones where Palestinian terrorists killed scores of innocent Israeli civilians after coming in from the sea) these are designed to counter infiltration attempts and for other types of missions as well.

So are these actual attacks from the sea or are they cases of people being dropped off by boats then moving into Israel and launching some kind of attack?

Are there any other Naval forces that try to patrol the waters around Israel and the neighbouring countries?

So are these actual attacks from the sea or are they cases of people being dropped off by boats then moving into Israel and launching some kind of attack? Most of it has been that they were dropped off at the beach and then the terrorists ran inland and killed Israeli civilians.

Also there are many attempts all the time but the Navy intercepts them.

Besides people, the Navy’s job is also to intercept weapons smuggling ships (like what the Israeli Navy’s shayatet 13 did last year when it intercepted a huge weapons ship from Iran that was headed for the Palestinians) and other ships that have over the years tired to smuggle in arms (some have been intercepted and some have not been and those arms that were not intercepted have made it into the hands of terrorists)
So yeah, the Israeli Navy is very busy and it can defiantly find good use out of this “protector”

Are there any other Naval forces that try to patrol the waters around Israel and the neighbouring countries? Yes the Israeli Navy patrols off Israeli waters all the time and this is just a added tool. It is protecting Israeli land from attacks, infiltrations, weapons smuggling to terrorists, that come from the sea.

As for neighbouring nations well OPSEC comes into play here but all I will say is that Israel has submarines, so make of that what you will………. ;)

Hmm , nice tool , never heard of it .But my guess is that it's not for Israel use , "Rafael" company made this one to sell it . My opinion Israel navy doesn't neads that craft meanwhile . I think this is one of "do first look for clients after" project . Nevertheless , very nice peace of work , again proofing that top minds and engineers in Israel never seaze to amaze .
