Ive been playing this free online text game called Nationstates(www.nationstates.net if you're interested) and in it you can build your own country, anything from a cruel dictatorship to a thriving communist paradise.

I just wanted to know if anyone else here played the game...Its really quite interesting.

in earth, you play by turns deciding what to produce, how much you want to trade, what weapons and technology you will produce, and against those you want land and structures from. it's a fantastic game.

each game lasts about 2.5 months. this game resets on january 10th. we can form the "militaryphotos members" clan and protect each other and wage war against lesser clans and whatever.

Just had a thought. When/if we all buy military equipment...we should be sure to buy equipment that is somewhat compatible for convienance sake. IE. Ivy's M1A1/A2s have a 120mm smoothbore gun. My (soon to be) Leopard2A6s also have a 120mm smoothbore gun, thus a common ammo can be used.

PS- I PMed hood asking for a Sticky thread where we can all post our respective militaries. As such, I think it's imporatant that we set a few guidelines for the types of arsenals we are each sure to have. Ex: should we adopt a common size round? 5.56, 6.8 or 7.62? Tanks having standard 120mm or (to include Russian designes) whatever? Air forces don't really need to be "comon" although it would help. What about unit designations? Are we going by Regiments, battalions, brigades, divisions? How many regiments/ brigades in a division?

Lots of stuff should be settled on. Course, this just makes the game slightly more realistic. If everyone just wants to do their own thing, we could do that too.

No need to post exact strenght numbers, just the weapons you are using. Note that most of you have new nations so latest equipment like F-22, Leopard 2A6... is out of question or in very limited suply (you purchased Bradleys and Abrams for your favorite brigade so the rest of your army has to fight with M-47 tanks and M-113 APCs). If you do not have compulsory service your army will be much smaller (vollunters cost more) and more proficient. Note that dictatorship can field more soliders than democratic country. Strenght of your army also depends from your economical situation.

To avoid godmoding we should have a ''narrator'', something like Dungeon master in AD&D games. Afcourse he(she) shouldn't be involved in conflict.

Force structure shuldn't be standardizied. As far as I am concerned one can have batallion consisted out of five divisions. Force structure should be explaind along the weapons you are using and geography of your country in the order of battle, posted on forum before going to war.

Oh don't forget the diplomacy (telegrams), espionage and other dirty stuff. :-*$
