I got sun burnt last summer on my back and there wasn't much I could do for the pain, I just had to ride it out. Also peeling skin is a major turn off for the ladies.

Just apply aloe, lie down for a while, take some advil, and the pain will go away until someone slaps you in the back again.

Yeah they do suck, aloe Vera and that white lotion that takes the burn out but burns like hell in the process. I am lucky I tan very easily guess it’s the benefit of being a southern boy and not having fair skin.

The first couple of days, take a shower/bath as warm as you can stand it (do not, I repeat, DO NOT take a cold shower). Wait a little while, then use the white after-sun lotion with aloe and moisturizers (keep it in the fridge, it feels even better). Take two advil every six hours to take the edge off.
Once you get to the point where it's more itchy than painful (usually about the third day), start using the clear green aloe gel. Try to use pure aloe vera that doesn't have any alcohol or lidocaine in it, because that will dry out your skin even more. Use it liberally all over the burn several times a day.
Also drink tons of water because sunburn dehydrates you alot and you want to make sure you rehydrate because it will help your skin heal faster.
After a week or two you should be totally back to normal.
suckers, i never had to worry about sun burns or putting on lotion my entire life

My bro gave me a slap in my neck yesterday and it hurt a lot. (I almost killed the little bastard :fork: :fork: :slap: :-*$ )

I got sun poisoning a couple summers back. Basically sat in a pool all day without putting on any lotion, and I'm basically as pasty white as people come, so that didn't work out all that well. My shoulders blistered and ended up bleeding in a couple spots. The fever that night was the worst part.
Yup, I'm gonna get skin cancer.

The older I fscking get, the longer it takes to get rid off a sunburn. When I was in my teens it took my skin a good night's sleep to get well; when I get sunburnt now it takes me up to 3 days to get rid of it ...

I know I'm going to get it for this, but here goes.
This is what I do. Get in the shower and put the water on luke warm, if it's to hot, it's going to hurt like hell, as you get use to the water turn it down a little, get use to it again, turn it cold again. Do this until it's almost all cold water. (Same thing you would do for a normal burn, cold running water is the best treatment). After you get out put some of this stuff on it.

Yes, I know it for animals, but the stuff works like a champ. It's got a higher concentration of aloe than anything else, or if you don't want to use this stuff, go buy an aloe plant an use the cream directly from the plant.

Ironically, you say that on a strangely hot and sunny bank holiday weekend. woot
I've been to Spain and Florida and never got sunburn.
I'm part Italian so i've got dark skin.

YaddaYadda,
you don't get sunburnt cause most of the time you Brits stay close to the bar. With all those gay sunshades, parasols etc.
We mighty Germans on the other hand conquer the areas around the pool as soon as we dumped the luggage in our rooms. UV? Hah, it's not a holiday if we don't get skin-cancer! Better red than dead!
Well, I'm about as pale as they get.
I either look like a ghost, or a walking, talking beet.
Basically, you have to just wait it out, use lots of aloe and drink lots of water. Painkillers help too.
If you get blisters, don't pop them. And if you go to lay down on a couch, take a damp towel and place it between wherever your burn is and the couch itself. That way, if you do get blisters and they do pop, the ooze that comes out of them won't have you stuck to the fabric of your chesterfield.
All I can say is goodluck and godspeed.

I don't know how it is with you guys, but for me usually a sunburn comes with a head-condition (like when you stay in the sun way too long);
In German it is called a "Sonnenstich" ('Sun-sting'); you get a slight fever (well, more brief than slight, for it gets as high as 39°C) but afterwards you are ok.)

Suburbans do not suck, i prefer them over Explorers or jeeps... They are solid trucks, not to the same level as an Expedition or Scalade, but they are nice.

That's what happened to me the night after I got sun poisoning. I never checked my temperature, but it was as feverish a sleep as I've ever had...absolutely miserable.

I am as pale as they get. But God cruelly placed me in Memphis, home of the scorched earth, for 18 years. So, yes, I know all about sunburns, I deal with them every year from May through September.

NO!!!! Cold water is really bad for a sunburn because the cold makes your pores close up and it seals the heat in so you burn worse. Start with lukewarm water and make it warmer till you get it as warm as you can stand it because that will open up your pores and let the heat out... trust me you'll feel better.
I know someone who didn't know this and sat in a cold bath after she got sunburned... her burns went from 1st to 2nd degree after that.

I did that to a buddy at work. didn't know he had been drinking all weekend and had basicly spent 2 days getting a severe (later went to the doctors) sunburn. I walked in monday morning and slapped him across the back while saying hey bud how was your weekend?! he gasped dropped to the florr and looked like he wanted to die.

Yeah, I don't think you really realize how many people do that in a day until you're badly sunburned. I had to go to work (as a waitress) one time with a bad sunburn... not fun.
