SEALs and US Marine Recon

I'm British and wanted to know if anyone can tell me if there is a difference between the SEALs and Marine Recon in terms of mission/role.

I've always wondered why there is a need for both SEALs AND Marine Recon who it appears are extremely similar and are tasked with very similar missions/roles.

Main difference one is Navy and the other is Marine,but you knew this right? While some training does overlap the main mission of Marine FR is reconaissance i.E. field intelligence. The short answer to the SEALs capabilities is that they are more DA(direct action)they find a hot target and take it out.This may be very unspecific for what you were looking for but anything more than this on eithers capabilities and mission structures fall into OPSEC. For all you PC people feel better now?
