"Ayman Sabawi, the son of Saddam Hussein's half-brother, Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hassan al-Tikriti, was arrested by security forces in an operation north of Tikrit" at the beginning of May, a statement said Wednesday.
On April 10, the government said a brother of Ayman Sabawi, Ibrahim, was arrested near Baghdad.
"Ayman Sabawi and his brother played a particularly active role in supporting and financing terrorism and supplying terrorist groups with arms and explosives," the statement said.
It added that several accomplices had been captured and explosives seized.
In late February, the government announced the capture of Sabawi Ibrahim near the Syrian border. At one time head of Saddam's intelligence service, he figured as number 36 on a US list of 55 most-wanted people from the former regime.
