Does the 1-SFOD code named "Delta Force" actually exist? Cause a person who was in the Army Special Forces for 30 years told me that they don't.

if you ever ask some PA rep from the army, they'll probably admit that the army has a counter-terrorist force, and that operational security does not permit anyone to talk about it. yet somehow, a book called "delta force" was written by the guy who founded/originally commanded this nameless unit. hmmm...

No such thing as 1st Special Operations Detachment - Delta lol You're talking about 1st SPECIAL FORCES OPERATIONAL DETACHMENT - DELTA. Yes they do exist, and they are not as taboo as everyone makes them seem to be. In Mark Bowden's Blach Hawk Down book you can read about Delta. There was also a video on history channel about Rangers and Delta in Somalia 1993, and they showed interviews with retired Delta operators. If I remember good, just few months ago, they showed Col. Charlie Beckwith, the founder of Delta, on Fox News sharing his opinions on Iraq and the war with terrorism. From my own sources I found out there is approximately 450 Delta operators, divided in 3 groups, each group consisting of 150 of them. I'm not surprised you were denied information from your SF friend or whoever he is, cuz after all, he is SF.

Yes, my English is very weak, I'm still trying to figure out what "reem" is. I checked on dictionary.com but couldn't find a match, what a dumb site ... too bad my avatar doesn't satisfy you, I'm not a steady person on this board therefore I still have not learned the rules around here yet, I seriously didn't think only avatars approved by Trigger are allowed. Your own sources told you there are approximately 450 operators yet you were not even aware that Col. Beckwith has been passed away for nearly a decade? You will find that the actual manpower surrounding the unit is one of the many things kept in the shadows about them. Do a net search and you will find guestimates anywhere from 200-800. Please dont post peoples guesses as facts. I've been to Bragg many times and actually seen the unit compound next to the drop zone but that does not actually give me the right to speak as if I know any of the secrets within the unit.

As a matter of fact Joe.....
A reamer is a rotary tool that is used to finish or enlarge a hole.
To ream, is to enlarge by means of a reamer.
Ream has, in turn, become slang for "buggered" (as Joe so delicately put it). However, as happens sometimes, it's use has become somewhat watered down over time, and is many times thought of as "a good dressing down."

Hope that helps.... ;)

96B don't be a hypocrite, you bash me and then you speak about something you yourself have absolutely no clue of whatsoever. How many more people like you am I going to come across here? First one doesn't like my avatar, second one accuses me of trying to deceive people by giving them false facts. First of all, before you make such accusations, it'd be mature of you to ask me what is the source of my information before insisting I make **** up just to make **** up. The 450 number was what I heard on one of the videos that I own, I don't remember whether it's the special features from BHD movie, or someone said it in History Channel's True Story of Black Hawk Down. It bounced off my ear and that's all it was, whether you want to believe it or not, it's your choice, I'm not putting a pistol to anyone's head here. Because I didn't know of Col. Beckwith death you treat me like a ****stabber telling lies, I was never particularly interested in him nor did I know his status, I never claimed to be a Delta expert. No need to call my post asinine because you don't agree with me, you probably don't know anymore about Delta then I do, so why argue?

I think triggerpuller says the right stuff mostly, and I agree with him that wearing a shirt with a budweiser or any kind of emblem not belonging to a unit is not very appropriate. You are not a cheerleader for them, and trust me people will come and ask (if you in any way resemble one) if you are a SEAL, or assosiated with them. Papa****, I never said I knew anything within the unit, I was attempting to explain to you that you need not act like you know its secrets. You said "according to my sources" as if you somehow had an inside scoop rather than clarifying something you read in a book or heard in a movie. You have every right to speak about whatever you want, but dont report things as facts that you dont know for sure (i.e. Delta manpower). The point I am trying to make is just because you have read a book or watched a tv show or have seen the actual compound does not qualify one to speak like they have been there done that. State facts as facts and clarify when you dont know for sure about something (i.e. "I once read" or "I am not sure I understood it correctly, but..." or "I've done that and.."

People do learn from the informative posts on these threads and spreading disinformation or unconfirmed information is a disservice.
