Wait, are the flags included, or are they non-issue gear that the soldiers are going to have to get seperately?

I think one can pin the problem on more than just this liberal government. I think if we go back about 10 years or more.
If you think its a funny joke, thin about the people who have to deal with this on a daily basis eh ?

Absolutely. This problem has been a long time coming and I personally put this on Trudeau and every Liberal PM since. The Tories did get in and Brian Mulroney did order some choppers, but Jean got in and cancelled them because they didn't mean kickbacks for his cronies.
There have been a number of books written on the subject.
We are now at the stage where we will not be able to just maintain services and equipment because everything is rusting, worn out, and critical service and training personnel are now retiring. My heart goes out to the troops because they work miracles with no support or money.

How prepared are the Dutch?
Our Marine Corps, KCT (commando's) and Air Manouvre Brigade are at a constant state of combat readiness. These are our first strike units that have to able to respond at any time. Most of the soldiers in these units can be called upon to back their bags and to actually be in some combatzone in less than 24 hours.
Our normal army needs much more time, but that's quite normal. Our aiforce also needs some time, but in general they are combat ready.
We have a small military force, so perhaps it's easier for us to keep units combat-ready.
the recruiting pictures are wicked

We have several Units that are always on high readiness. Just the other day we had an exercise bug out, took us 2 hours to be ready for deployment.

well the canadians are pretty much combat ready afaik what I meant is that we suffer the same problems.
lameass politicians who cannot be asked to spent money on the military unless the germans are digging foxholes in their respective (undoubtedly huge) frontlawns

If the equipment works why change it? To keep up to date with other countries?
Politicians do cut defence budgets because it demands large sums so it's easy to reduce it. Large tank armies are not necessary for European countries. And the money is well spend elsewhere e.g. basic healthcare, crime and education.
