Brazil Selects Lockheed Martin To Provide Maintenance For A-4 Aircraft, J52 Engines
CORDOBA, Argentina, May 9, 2005 -- The government of Brazil has selected Lockheed Martin to provide comprehensive logistics support services for six navy A-4 aircraft and 10 J52-P408 engines. The four-year contract will begin in July and is valued at $6.5 million.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will provide maintenance services such as engine overhaul, flight line and depot level maintenance for the A-4s, and on the job training for technicians from the Brazilian Navy. The maintenance will be performed at the Brazilian Navy base in São Pedro da Aldeia. Engine overhaul will be performed at Lockheed Martin’s Aircraft Argentina facility in Cordoba.

“This program fits the core business of our company, and can be performed due to the expertise we gained with the Argentine Air Force A-4 upgrade program,” said Alberto Buthet, president of Aircraft Argentina “We look forward to this opportunity to expand our experience with the A-4 aircraft and to begin supporting our new Brazilian military customer.”

Lockheed Martin Aircraft Argentina, S.A., is a major industry leader in the province of Cordoba. A member of Lockheed Martin Aircraft & Logistics Centers, the company has the ability to offer services for both military customers and commercial airlines, including extensive maintenance, modification and state-of-the-art upgrades to the C-130 Hercules, F-27 and F-28 Fokker aircraft, and Boeing 737-200 jets.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin employs about 130,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture and integration of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation reported 2004 sales of $35.5 billion.
