Kauai, Hawaii (Dec. 11, 2003) -- A Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) is launched from the Aegis cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70) as part of the Missile Defense Agency's latest Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) test to defeat a medium range ballistic missile threat. The SM-3, part of the Aegis Weapon System intercepted a target launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands, Kauai, Hawaii at an approximate speed of 3.7 kilometers per second. The two missiles collided several hundred kilometers from Kauai at an altitude of approximately 137 kilometers. The BMDS test included evaluation of the long-range surveillance and tracking capabilities of two Navy ships, the effective communications between the ships and command and control units in Colorado, and the launch of the SM-3 interceptor. This was the fourth successful intercept for the sea-based element of the BMDS. U.S. Navy photo. (RELEASED)

The US Government running a television station would be hilarious :D . CNN and Fox already get bashed all the time for being "tools of the Administration", imagine all the bashing that would if the Govt really DID run the TV station! :-*$
The Americans do get those kind of visits a lot though... what do they call it? WSO or something? They have all kinds of huge celebrity visits with the troops. I think Mariah Carey did one in Bosnia a while back.
As for the CBC and our state run television... ugh. Gee lets just watch what the Government wants us too, maybe next we can rename the Parliament to "Politburo" .
Rick Mercer is a great guy, I'll give him props, but theres no way I'm gonna give props to the ultra-biased CBC. ;)

Ultra-biased CBC eh? Thats why they always do reports and investigate government screw ups and scandals, ironically CBC seems to break the news alot faster then any other news station in Canada. Does that seem bias to you?
To me its tax dollars well spent, and by the way, maybe you should do a lil research on your own country's news television and radio before posting. I do see that Deut has proven you wrong.

I like how CBC does stuff like this with the army...thank god for State run television! you never see stuff like this in the US, may'be cause the government doesn't own a Television station?

You only have to watch the CBC for 15-20 minutes to see their biases pop out. On everything from Israel-Palestine, US relations, the new Conservative party, the new PM... They don't do a very good job of hiding their slant. I used to think like you... If you don't see it than I can't make you, but some day you'll open your eyes.
CBC has its high points, but I'd rather my money went to something more productive :).

I don't think so, but the cheap propaganda by part of the press seems to work on their side, specialy in Europe.
Have missiles been known to cause turret separation given a strike within the area protected by those chains?
I really don't know (my knowledge is quite limited in this field). What I do know is that these chains have been placed in that area of the tank because (amongst other reasons I assume) this area is the most susceptible to hollow charges.

It's hard to say whats exactly is in their mind. But it seems that people under occupation sometimes have a need to defy the power of occupation. There are also exaples from Denmark during the nazi occupation where people would tease the occupation soldiers, roaming the streets in tanks, despite the great risk of getting shot.

(and yes, I know Sharon is again the informal talks as well, but he hasn't vowed to start blowing up buses and cafes AFAIK.)

The Palestinian militant groups met last weekend in Egypt and they agreed not to target civilians anymore. They wanted a cease fire but Israel refused any cease fire (for whatever reason they had).
The Palestinian Authority did all they can and sent representatives to discuss the Geneva Peace plan.
Don't blame the palestinians and say the dont want peace.

1. The Palestinians agreed not to target civilians not in the settlements, every night there is attempts to hurt civilians. By the way, they agreed to do that in past, and turn out they did hurt civils.
2. The Geneva plan have been offered by left oposition group and not really an option for anything.
3. Sorry, they don't.
