A friend of mine (USMC) is currently deployed in Iraq.
He has asked me to send him some **** DVDs because he does not want to ask his relatives (understandable...) and because he told me they were hard to come by where he is.
Am I putting him in trouble if the letter is opened ?
Any precaution needs taking (double enveloppe...) ?
Thanks
BTW, it's a serious question.

he will not get in any kind of trouble. Try to be discrete, do not include the original box with the dvd, put it in a blank dvd case instead.

Yeah, **** is ok to send. Like the last post said send it in a blank DVD case. Wish you friend a safe return.

Tell him that we all appreciate his service and that I will be joining him soon enough.

Thanks; my main worry was that the parcel could be X-rayed and that he could be asked to open it in front of an MP or something like that.
I am sure one can do without that sort of embarassment...

just curious, does anyone search the care packages you send? My sister signed up to send some stuff, and she got like a six page email telling her not to send just about everything a normal guy would want.

That's exactly why I asked in the first place...interesting to know such things happen; my friend could do without being in trouble over some **** DVDs....

Just cover the actual DVD with a blank label (http://www.labelgear.com/LG/Category.asp?CatCode=LABELS_CD) and put it into a blank case.

Hey Fantassin, My american friend is now on his deployment to iraq, been sending stuff to him all the time, takes exactly 3 weeks from europe to iraq, because your package goes first to the usa and then to iraq.
Do not forget if you are sending the package from europe to write at the end of the address USA.
exemple PVT Schwarzeneger
1st Armored 3BDE
APO ................
FOB MARS
USA
again sending packages from europe to american friends in iraq has to be labeled USA, they go first there and then to iraq
My packages always arrive every 3 weeks.
God bless your buddy.

When I worked in Iraq we handled mail a lot, we were responsible for getting it sent to and from the AO for Anaconda and 9 other FOB's.
Nothing get x-rayed, and we saw a lot of playboy subscriptions but we didnt say ****. As long as you dont ship alcohol...we didnt open anything up, but just dont send glass...you have no idea how many idiots did that. Broken **** everywhere. If that happens, you will get sent a letter from the DoD and so will the person you were sending it to plus their commander.
We had to call EOD a couple of times because some packages were pretty ****ing suspicious but we never found any bombs.
If your buddy is in a mobile unit, it might take a little bit longer to get to him of course.
If you have any questions just ask.

does anyone remember the part in Schwarzbkopfs autobiography "it doesn take a hero" where he is complaining about **** magazines sent to iraq during operation desert shield?
_I can t remember exactly how the sentence was , but it was in the chapter where he also complained that during the build (desert shield) up too many airforce planes crowded the airfields and that one enemy strike could have turned the airfields into infernos, and then he went on complaining about the **** stuff .
