Serbia-Montenegro might be invited to the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO and its partner countries, which will take place on May 24 and 25 in Are, Sweden, but the consent of the U.S. is yet to be obtained, NATO sources in Brussels told BETA on May 11.

This would be the first time that representatives of the Serbia-Montenegro authorities would take part in an official meeting within NATO structures.

Officials in Brussels also announced that the NATO Council and Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer would visit Kosovo on May 13 in order to "reiterate the political interest of all the NATO members in the province's development."

In Pristina, the NATO Council and Scheffer will meet with the top people in UNMIK, KFOR and the local authorities, and will also visit other towns in Kosovo, including Kosovska Mitrovica.
