Microsoft has reduced the number of Blue Screens of Death in the upcoming version of Windows Codenamed "Longhorn"
They've added Red Screens of Death.. I wish this was a joke but it's true.

But when its around the text its usually the edited part. Just talking on experience here.

You are correct, when you use very agressive compression, the areas where there is extreme color change (i.e. The areas where the white text meets the red background) gets fuzzy.

I have never had a blue screen since I have used XP
In XP, you don't get the bluescreen. Your PC just restarts on it's own then. You will only recieve a bluescreen unless if you have "restart after serious error" turned off. - Only a rare few instances there will be a bluescreen from having the auto restart turned on anyways. ;)

Windows ME was so horrible I removed it and reinstalled Windows 98.
