I read the Wall Street Journal most every day, usally reading it on the ride to and from school and when walking between classes. I watch CNN headline news in the morning and I get the Economist delivered as well so I read that when ever I can which means, essentially on weekends. I also browse the headlines at Mp.net on a daily basis, of course.

This thread seems like you'd like to know where people get news and to see if anyone gets news from any new or different places. I obviously don't but i'll add links incase people are interested.

The wall street journal is a great publication, its not just financial news.

Janes defense is great for accurate military news and info.

Mostly from...
http://www.cfc.forces.gc.ca/spotnews_e.html

It's not updated on weekends and holidays, but it's good.

Also foxnews.com, drudgereport.com, canada.com.

Hell, getting info from the hairdresser is at least as reliable as Debka.

Taking the same focus on news, I also like the GWU National Security Archive (http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/); but it ain't a new site, per se....it's a collection of FOIA releases that is regularly updated.

For old-fashioned news, I check the following almost daily: ******* (http://www.*******.com/), BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/default.stm),Al-Jazeera (http://www.aljazeera.net), and Haaretz (http://www.haaretzdaily.com/). The Economist (http://www.economist.com/index.html) is a mandatory weekly read (the EIU (http://www.eiu.com/) also provides an invaluable resource - which, again, is an analytic product, not news). I'll look at a few others now and then, if something is occuring for which I think they are a better placed source.

The South Asia Terrorism Portal (http://www.satp.org/) provides topic/regionally specific news as well as other resources.

These organizations publish analytic papers on-line at irregular intervals:

Center for Strategic and International Studies (http://www.csis.org/)

International Crisis Group (http://www.crisisgroup.org/home/index.cfm?)

Congressional Research Service (http://fpc.state.gov/fpc/c4763.htm)

The US Army War College's Strategic Studies Institute (http://www.carlisle.army.mil/ssi/). The War College's quarterly, Parameters (http://carlisle-www.army.mil/usawc/Parameters/05spring/contents.htm), is also worth the read.

The Jamestown Foundation (http://www.jamestown.org/) publishes a variety of products at quite regular intervals.

...I shouldn't even have to mention RAND (http://www.rand.org/), but, just in case...

Finally, of course, the Jane's Group is one of the best unclass sources in the world - but for those poor souls without SIPR access, you gotta pay the big bucks to access their resources.

Haaretz (Israel), Yomiuri Shinbun (Japan), Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The Spectator (UK), Weekly Standard, Korea Times, China Daily and several professional magazines and online services. I don't waste my time on moronic conspiracy sites like debka.

The onion!!!

GURNEE, IL—Hungry shoppers at the Gurnee Mills outlet mall can now get a name-brand lunch at a bargain-basement price, thanks to the Monday opening of McDonald's first "Not Quite Perfect" outlet store, offering imperfect and irregular items from the fast-food giant's menu.

Gotta love The Onion. I love the editorials by Herbert Kornfeld. Wasn't it last year that the Chinese thought that an article by The Onion was an actual news story? Anyhew, I like www.lucianne.com pretty well.

AND Foxnews. Jane Skinner is pretty hot.

Let me reccomend a kick-ass blog which is almost completely unknown.

Basically, every weekday this girl read 50 or so newspapers in several languages, then posts the headlines for everything that's going on in the world, stuff that most news sources will completely miss. And there is news in 4 languages no less (English, Italian, Spanish, Romanian). Seriously, it's the job of an entire editorial staff, done by one person. Plus frequent articles on topics of interest, as well as very detailed series of articles on a few select stories (jack Idema, the Ukrainian election etc).

http://weblog.ro/soj

Seriously, I can praise it enough.
