Hey everyone,
I'm looking for pics of EOD techs in action (no pics of explosions though, I have plenty of those). I'd prefer pics of US EOD, but any interesting foreign pics would be cool. Thanks for the assist!

he's probably a Combat Engineer - very different job. We don't use the mine detector that often. He could be EOD, but it's hard to tell without seeing his shoulder insignia (52nd ORD GP EOD or Natl Guard EOD). It's an interesting pic though, because he's not using an AN/PSS 12, which is the standard mine detector. Thanks!

By M82 I assume you mean the Barret. We use it for what we call SMUD ops, which is the diruption of UXO items by small arms fire. Mostly it's used against multiple smaller items, i.e. a submunition field. The .50 offers you a good chance at acheiving either a detonation of the item or an effective mechanical breakup without leaving too many pissed off components lying around.

I love my job :P

Navy EOD and SEAL Team are two different jobs, like Army EOD and the SF. I believe they do slot techs at the Team level for direct support, but you'd really have to ask a Navy tech for the straight G-2 on what the setup is. There are also a small number "twin pins" out there. SEALS that attended the EOD school or left the Teams and went to the EOD program.

They are infantrymen from the First Battalion the Queens Lancashire regiment.

I can't tell Brit beret badges apart from a distance. Even in Bosnia I had to see the Bomb on their shoulders to ID them (unless I already knew them). It's still a good photo op for them, tho!

Royal

Royal Engineers who wear the 'bomb' badge and do most EOD work on Operations are not technically EOD either!!! Doctrinally the Royal Logistics Corps' ATO's (Ammunition Technical Officers) conduct EOD in the UK (including Northern Ireland) (unless divers are needed in inland waters, when the Royal Engineers come back in. At sea Royal Navy (and occasionally Royal Marine) Clearance Divers are used) - strange but true.

i knew this was going to come up eventually......

when i began saving photos to my computer, i was first saving actual special forces photos. however, the more photos i saved, the looser and looser the actual 'special forces' designation actually applies to the photo. i use the file name 'special forces####' just as a file name. i have almost 1800 of these photos saved and probably 90% of them are probably not special forces. ;)

Nice pics........

Here are some Israeli EOD operators.

Police EOD

Checking the scene of a homicide bombing and it’s after math and seeing if there is more bombs (a lot of times there is a second homicide bomber that blows himself up when the paramedics arrive, so now the first on scene are these EOD operators to make sure the scene is fully neutralized) and things of that nature (this pic was taken sometime before last year)

we do live in a warzone, but you know - we do have a normal life,
i don't drive to the university with a reconnaissance vest or a flack jacket.

Royal,
It depends on what your definition of EOD is. The Brits divide their training pragram between Ordnance and IED's. The 33 ENG RGT EOD guys are qualled in basic UXO disposal (ID, handling, blow in place, etc). I believe render safe of ordnance items is yet another course, and IEDD is yet another. The 33 ENG RGT guys do handle IED's in deployed locations (in the absence of the RLC). In Bosnia they had one operator that had the quals (including IEDD), but he had been in the program for almost 15 years. Where as US EOD gets everything in one shot during our school (ground ordnance, air ordnance, BioChem, IED's, etc). The main difference is that they are combat engineers first, while we are a seperate field in our Army. The Canadians use a very similar system to the Brits, they're awesome guys to work with, it just takes them a long time to get the full spectrum of EOD skills.

Seoulstriker,
I thought you were asking about the links you posted before the string of pics. The photos in the links are almost all Navy EOD (except for the Army team destroying the AH-64 and the AF tech with the barrett).
The last 7 pics in the string are AF EOD (black t-shirts, AF stripes). The others are of Navy, Marine, and Army techs.[/quote]

No, those are Navy EOD techs. You can tell by the RBR helmets, type of body armor, the LBT EOD chest harness (on the tech doing the recon on the mortar with the digital camera) and the name tape on the one tech's ass. The Navy guys do work a lot in support to the SEAL Teams, but they are EOD, not SEALs. Like I said earlier though, there are some SEALs that left the Teams and are in EOD now. Also, at one time the Teams used to send a few guys to the EOD school, but not many, and I'm not sure that they still do that at all (dual qualled guys are called "twin pins").

BMF_EOD

We aren't using RBR any more. Most of us are running with the Ranger SPEAR variant with MICH helmets. Some guys are still sworn on the London Bridge EOD vest. My **** is mismatched between SPEAR, LBT, Tactical Tailor, and a little blackhawk (now craphawk). I've got my eye on a Paraclete set up but the Navy hasn't kicked down the dough yet.

If I could figure out how to upload pics I would....
