we had a little discussion about this here:

i think the osprey was grounded a while ago for a total reworking of its flight control computer, etc, and it has been in test flights again since 2002. no more problems for the osprey.

The Osprey is turning into a crapful project....especially with their are other modular VTOL/STOL/FixedWing projects out there that are working much better and can be scaled.

Meanig you can have an individual sized craft or drone and it can be scaled to the size of a C-130 or C5...an awesome idea.

Unfortunately , the Osprey is not scaleable and we have spent too much time, lives, and money on it...so it is still being worked on. :|

Edit: For those of you not familiar with the Rotor Wing, a good example would be the Boeing X-50, where the rotor and wing are the same. The rotor locks into postion and becomes a lift surface for fix wing movement.
