and so the saddam conspiracies surface. all of this seems this rather silly...

debka.com, a website considered by many to be an israeli intelligence site (and apparently quite reliable information-wise) has claimed that saddam's saturday capture was a fake.

see article: http://debka.com/article.php?aid=743

is anyone familiar with debka.com? can israelis on this board provide additional information regarding the claims that the site in question is operated by israeli intelligence? frankly, the claims made by debka.com do not seem to be terribly credible, but as i pointed out, apparently this site has been an excellent source of information in the past.

i don't think you need to look at conspiracy theories when the truth is right in front of your face.

aside from the fact that the bush administration is actively engaged in distorting the "truth" (and i am not only referring to iraq), all this conspiracy talk surrounding saddam's capture is ridiculous. i may despise bush and his puppet-masters, but i see no reason to doubt the validity of this particular story.

and for those who will actually read and understand my initial post, i seek information about debka.com. is it linked to israeli intelligence, as many believe it to be?

Pinkeye, my initial reading of that article doesn't suggest that Saddam's capture was fake, but rather the "circumstances" surrounding the capture. Either way, he is caught. I doubt that we will ever know the complete truth about how it all happened, and the events leading up to the capture.

Did I miss something?

I've been browsing the site for a bit (I'd never heard of it before) and it seems quite interesting. Whether it has links to Israeli intelligence or not, I have no clue - but they seem to either "know stuff" or are damn good at making it up. I'm suddenely very interested to hear the answer to your question :)

i am more interested in the website itself, for it is reported to be linked to israeli intelligence. if this is indeed the case, then you have to wonder why the site would make such claims.

as far as i am concerned, saddam is caught. good riddance. end of story.

IF this site is linked to Israeli intelligence, perhaps they have made these claims because they are "closer" to the truth than what has so far been portrayed in the media? I don't see anything suggesting the claims are rubbish right off the bat. I am more cynical than most on this forum, though, so I guess that means I'm less inclined to dismiss things like this....

as you pointed out, debka.com seems to be "in the know", so it definitely raises a few eyebrows...

It's registered to someone in Jerusalem (I won't give details here) & all domain servers seem to be in Russia. As to whether it's linked to Israeli intelligence - if it is, we certainly wouldn't know it, and all info on it would be even less credible.
