Movie star Bruce Willis is planning to honor the $1 million offer he made to the soldier who found Saddam Hussein.

The movie star visited troops in Iraq last month and promised to make the soldier who uncovered the country's former leader an overnight millionaire.

Willis is now trying to discover who he owes, and says, "It's a small price to pay. They're my heroes."

If I recall, from watching his interview on TV, he is unable to give a soldier the million dollars. He said that the government wouldn't allow it. He also said he was going to make good on his promise if a US soldier found Saddam, but would donate the money to someone or give it to the military, or something like that. I'll try to find the article and post it.

There was no one person who found Saddam. Yes, their was the first solider who grapped him out of the hole, but the reward needs to go to the intell community, Special Forces (TF 121), and the 4th ID.

i don't know how much equipment it could buy, but the 4th id should get it, and buy some new stuff.

bruce willis is incredible. how many troops does he have to split?

1000 troops can get $1000 each. or 100 troops can get $10000 each. or 10 troops can get $100,000 each. or 1 troop can get $1,000,000. ;)

It's amazing how much work for charity this guy does, not to mention the many USO performances both him and Robin Williams have done.

I like the guy's intent. It isn't really fame or fortune that we enlist for. It is for the honor of serving. The true reward is when guys like him finally "get it."
I would like to share a story.
Two weeks ago I went to a military school away from home. It was the first time I was away from my girlfriend. Although I have been in the service for many years and have been an Army Brat since birth, this was here first experience with a US soldier and having to be without him.
She told me how proud she was. I've heard that before. Then she explained why. She had a few cousins in the service and in speaking to them and with me she finally understood.
Why we serve. She proceeded to explain how much it meant to us to be able to stand up for those things we believe, what others believe, and for those who either cannot or will not stand up for themselves.
She said she could see how proud I was not only to have US ARMY stitched across my uniform but in my name stitched on the other side. I was paying a debt to my family who served and for my family who will benefit for my service. I get a direct stake in defending my childeren's world. I get to repay all those soldiers that sacrificed for the world I live in and the world my children live in. She described how proud of me she was for answering the call.. for stepping forward.. and sacrificing.
In it self .. this is an amazing step for someone who is not a soldier. The part that is more amazing.. is that she came to live in this country.. 3 years ago.
Thank God for those who get it. It doesn't matter who gets the money.. or if any one does. The soldiers of the 4th ID (my old unit.. 2d Bde) and soldiers everywhere stand a little taller because of people like Bruce.. and people like my girlfriend.

Just a side note. Two of my G/F's cousins are with the 82nd ABN in Iraq. One is back home because he was injured by a truck bomb in Bagdad... neither of them are US citizens!

Going off on a tangent here. Are you allowed to join the US Army if your not a US citizen then?

For example, i'm British, so say i went to America, could i join the US Army straight away or would i have had to have lived in the US for a certain amount of time?

WARPIG

Takes a little paperwork but you can join the US Army without being a citizen.
For people who wish to become citizens.. what better way to prove it? We have a lot of Peurto Rican soldiers as well as troops from countries that aren't US districts.

Not only can a non-citizen be in the US military, a non-citizen can be DRAFTED by the US military. For instance, if you have a green card, you can be drafted. A green card gives you all the rights and responsibilities of a citizen except you can't vote.

Roger Rabbit

What is the Green Card? How do you get one?

Is it the same for all parts of the US military? I mean could you join the Marines, Navy, Air Force?

Good job Bruce.

To be fair the money should be distributed evenly to the guys that were on the raid, both 4th ID and TF121.

There were some 600 soldiers involved, so each soldier gets 1666 dollars.

WARPIG

Military can't accept money for doing their job. Donation's to the Unit funds.. throwing a party for them.. etc are kosher though.

I think you can join any US military branch. Backround checks and qualification pending of course.

Green card is like an identification card for legal immigrant to live in the U.S.

People with green card can join U.S. armed forces but some jobs in the military require security clearance and security clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
