That's some Naval power in that second Pic. Four nuclear powered carriers plus two amphib assault carriers on the far left.

I've always had respect for the French military. The Rafale, for instance, is a stunningly beautiful aircraft.

French politicians on the other hand........can be discussed in another thread.

Awesome pics! woot

*note: I doubt the Ronald Reagan is in that second pic as it's stationed at San Diego, not Norfolk. It's either the Harry S Truman or the George Washington. ;)

Thanks for the info ;)

You're all welcome for the pics... I'll keep looking for pictures of the exercises and post them in this thread...
People can look also on USN and RN sites, there may be some pics in there too...

And especially pictures from FLEET WEEK in New York (all of CdeG escort went there!)

on a side note:

Two foreign naval ships arriving in the city for Fleet Week collided off Staten Island yesterday, causing minor damage to both, according to organizers. No injuries were reported.

The Jean Bart, a French ship, collided with the Moawin, a Pakistani vessel, off Stapleton Pier, Fleet Week officials said in a news release.

The French frigate struck the port side of the Pakistani support ship, which was already moored, the organizers said.

There was visible damage across 30 feet of the French vessel's hull, the organizers said. The Pakistani ship was only superficially damaged.

the first carrier landing of the rafale was on the Foch (April, 13th 1993) :D

AFAIK, a rafale has never landed on a US carrier, yet :(
However, the first catpult and traping trials were made in the USA at Patuxent River and Lakehurst in 1992-93

Ok, I've dream my mistake.

But... pour le Foch j'aurais dit le 19 avril.

The carrier on the right, CVN-75 is the Truman, not the Reagan, CVN-76.

I snagged a tour of the CdeG while she was in port (yes, I currently reside in Norfolk) and I should have some better photos. Let me see what I can dig up.
