Did the Kurds have Saddam first?

I saw some stories over the weekend (CNN, MSNBC, FOX) about the Kurds claiming they had captured Saddam first & put him in the spider hole for the US to "find". Something about a tribal grudge...etc.

I didn't put much stock in the claim, as it seemed to me that if the Kurds had him, he'd have been killed.

I tried to find any details on the story today & it seems to have vanished off the various news sites. Anybody else got info on this?

You're right. That does sound pretty far-fetched. The Kurds would have torn his guts out and set em' on fire and done a little dance around em' or something. I doubt this story has any truth behind it.
