Four children have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a five-year-old boy from Dewsbury suffered neck injuries.
The boy, from the Chickenley area, was injured in woodland behind the nearby Earlsheaton Medical Centre. He is "stable" at Dewsbury and District Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.
Two 11-year-old girls, a 12-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were arrested. All remain in custody.
One of the children was arrested on Tuesday night and the other three were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday.
A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said forensic examinations had been carried out in the area of woodland where the incident took place.
