now if he would have only gone further.
(Bridgeport-AP, May 22, 2005 10:50 AM) _ A gun control activist who chopped off part of his finger 11 years ago on the steps of the state Capitol thinks the memory of that is worth a few bucks.
Former Bridgeport city councilman Joel Gonzalez says he's auctioning off the homemade guillotine he used to sever the tip of his trigger finger to raise money to continue his activism.
Gonzalez chopped off the finger in March 1994 to protest what he said were efforts by the gun lobby to scuttle tougher firearms laws.
He says he'll market the guillotine on eBay and the bidding will begin at $50,000. If he gets at least that amount, Gonzalez says half will go to the Beardsley Zoo because he likes what the zoo does for animals.
