Can anyone give me an authoritative origin of how the name Zelda came to be applied to M-113 APCs (the Nagmash)?

Was there also a nickname for the M2/M3 Halftracks (Zahlamim)?

Yes, I have heard from sources that it is the sound that comes when the armored vehicled runs over a hamas member. Other names that have been thrown around are the "Allah Ak-crunch" and the "Al-squish".

acording to a book I have and other people I heard about Zelda. It was a name used by journalists. Don't know where they had it from.
But it the name covers only the M113 with toga armor.

We used to call the SLS (Starlight Scope) the O****. It was too unbalanced that guys would drop it as we were securing it to Galils or MAGs (FN) for exercises -- "Oh ****" then the rest in Hebrew.
