It depends how big your hands are do you feel comfortable holding it how far is triger and other comands etc,...From few mentioned I would like to have Colt and model would have to be1911a1.
I didn't think of SIG, sorry.

Best what?
Fit/finish?
Accuracy out of the box?
Ergonomics?
Looking?
There are too many makers not on the list: Kimber, Wilson, Browning, SIG, Dan Wesson, of the top of my head...

Why arn't IMI in there. Their Jericho series (sold as baby eagle in the US) are solid handguns that are battle proven in some of the harshest envirnoments in the world. Let's not forget their new Browning Hi Power based Barak (sold as SP 21 in the US) whichshows plenty of promice. Or what about that hi tech yet rediculously powerful and stylish hand canon which is the Desert Eagle which is baned from many magnum competitions because it gives the shooter such an unfair advantage.

SIG, after that HK.
There are some high quality 1911 manufacturers, but the design is to old to be really comparable.

The design is very well made, thats why its still in use today.
And this thread blows.

Never said the design is bad, but there are newer better ones that are not nearly 100 years old... use of CAD tools and offer many new opportunities. Some of the modern guns are based on the trusty colt, and they ARE better.

Glock could be decent though I've had a bad experience with one, a glock 34 (their competition model). I hear all kinds of things like they'll never jam and they're perfectly acurate so I decide to try one. The first shot I fired, it failed to eject and the casing got caught in the ejector port. As for it's recoil, when I did my safety qualification for a particular range I found it to be greater than a .38 revolver, with a 9mm semi that just shouldn't hapen. Either it's very poorly designed or that was one ****ed gun

The discussion is about guns.
They are all about the same honestly. Each has a consumer products that match each other in quality for certain,
None of them are "top of the line" manufacturers. They simply make solid firearms Not the best and not the worst.
They are not a custom shop firearm and they are not bottom line crap.
SiG falls into the same category
