Sorry mate p-) we did bash the “Defence Materiel Administration” in swedish because they are to slow ..
But the uniform is still only in the testing phase there are still some problem with that soldiers don’t are issued the old M/90L (hot weather uniform) but the new uniform looks sweet.

DPDU is good. I agree with 3RAR....I actually prefered the lighter coloured one and the earlier versions coz it was made of better material IMO. I loved having the pouches on the arms as well.....****ing brilliant idea and about ****ing time!

Anyone notice that the CDF worse DPDU to aceh? THought he looked like a right idiot standing in the middle of the jungle with desert cams on!

Just in case he's reading this....sorry sir!

No that model is more a thicker version off the desert field jacket :D .a funny thing about a desert is that it can be very cold in the nights and then its nice to have a warm jacket p-)

A part of the apparel seems to be made of ripstop-material. The thicker field-jacket looks a little bit like a GoreTex-parka, that is why I have asked.

You are so welcome mate.i guess that the jacket is made off the same material as the GoreTex field jacket FJS 02 so you are probably right about that it is made off Goretex.

Here is FJS 02

And just think of Afghanistan. Some places are really cold there. Especially during winter. So a thick jacket is actually needed. In a real desert the nights are extremely cold compared to the day

How about you quit being so immature? Sometimes it's more logical and efficient to modify an existing rifle (or anything else for that matter) than to produce your own. Not every country can afford developing its own assault rifle from scratch. Take Sweden for example - we tested several different rifles during the 80's and came to the conclusion that the basic FN FNC was exactly the type of rifle that the Swedish Armed Forces needed.

It wasn't perfect though, and needed to be modified to suit Swedish requirements and withstand the Swedish climate. Thus, the AK5 was born. I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

Yes the M/90P pants are quite hard to find and they are weary expensive, for people that don’t know m/90P is exclusivly for AFV personel, P meaning "pansar" or armor.

We're not neutral. The official statement is "non-alliant with the possibility to stay neutral in case of war"

just a bit of nitpicking there thor? :P these are semantics really, but as a political scientist I understand your desire for me to be specific. Even so, I don't feel I'm going to far out on a limb describing sweden as neutral as they are not a member of any of the major defense alliances and have declared themselves neutral in modern major conflicts. I also believe that no country is permanently neutral, you declare neutrality for specific conflicts.. just my 2 cents as they say..

Thor
09-02-2005, 03:51 AM
So little you know.. The meaning of that statment was a huge political deal over here like 5 years ago. We officially left our neutrality behind us instead became just non-alliant.

twominds
09-02-2005, 04:26 AM
which falls neetly into the shift from strict neutrality to participating in joint excercises with nations that are members of other alliances. Now I understand that a change in the official policy such as this would create some discussion, but I don't think I am that far of from the truth in my earlier statements.. cut me some slack for living in the states at the time, where you don't tend to hear to much about swedish domestic politics in the news.. :) no need for the tone.. i was sticking up for you guys.. but oh well..

92 soldiers, And in mars 2006 they are palnaing to take over the task of leding the ISAF forces in the northen Afganistan, the numbers of swedish soldiers will then arond 160. The other nations they will work with I don´t know, mayby som one ells can help you with that.

Om det är någon som är intreserad av information av det svenska planerna för afganistan så finns det en mycket bra artickel i

swedish support unit
one swedish QRP that is one of the four plutons in the british led QRK.

there is a 2:nd groop in the town Masar-i-sharif that is the swedish HQ and plans al the missions for the 3:rd swedish groop the MOT(Military observasion team?) there is also 32 soldiers/officers in Termez, Uzbekistan. And officers in Isafs HQ in Kabul and in RAC HQ i Kunduz.

eh..we dont have any desert patern!!....Yet!!

we used a desert pattern in somalia in 93/94, but that was the old American Choc Chip pattern that we got from the Americans.,but that was quickly axed coz we(under the UN flag)were being mistakin for US troops.

We then changed to a french pattern(olive green).
