The white paint have no connection to it . Those can be also Soviet tanks in Warsaw invation , or any other . Soviet forces would paint white color around the turret to avoid mistake in ID , and FF situation .

Yeah, because KV-1's had white stripes on them in Leningrad and other towns.

Its a white eagle - it must be polish as the guys seems to be from poland sitting and standing on it.

Yes it can be a russian tank with poles on it, i know it too. But it seems like a "polish" tank :)

Why discussions? Every photo has its own address, polish crew and soviets tanks:
1.The polish 1st Armored Brigade in Gdynia in March 1945

2.And a tip: Captured SdKfz 250/10 in use by the 13th SP Artillery Regiment in Pomerania in 1945,

JS series of tanks was not really better than T-34s, they had an advanteage of more armor and more powerful gun (both in penetration and range), however, what they gained in power and protection they lost in maneuverability. Ideally, those tanks would be used in different roles (what happend in reallity is a different matter).
And the white stripes have nothing to do with Poland, it's painted for identification purposes, primarily as protection from friendly fire from airstrikes.

Well the eagle was usualy white look at some polish tank photos from WW2 most of them have white eagle not black not green sice blacc eagle have bad feelings in poland.... and comming back to JS maybe it is not a polish tank but it might be polish i have couple of photos similar to this that show polish JS with white strips in berlin, of course white strips were used before but JS was introdced in 1945 so it cannot be anywhere else than in berlin or somwhere in germany, one but unfortunately i cannot post them sice i borrowed my digital camera to friend... that guys on tank are 100% polish since they wear polish uniforms....and polish uniform was diferent from soviet, and every polish man can recognize polish uniform, especialy when it is based on polish wz1936(or 8) uniform :-) nywhay nice photos...

The finns captured a total of 9 of the T-34/76´s from the russians, the first 2 already in 1941, and they were immediately put into use against their former owners. The finns nicknamed them "Sotka". After the summer -44 they were put in against the germans in Lapland. Even though one of them were damaged by a german mine none were destroyed beoynd repair during the war. Note the kill rings.

T-34/85. A total of 9 were captured in the summer of -44 despite that the finnish soldiers were retreating due to the Soviet offensive. 7 of them were quickly taken into service. They served just as the T-36/76 up until the 60´s.

My own grandfather participated in a battle during the finnish offensive in -41 which involved the capture of Soviet tanks and armored cars. He was a anti-tank man in a infantry regiment. At the lake Kukkajärvi in russian Karelia they were counter-attacked by the Soviets with atleast 40 light tanks and armored cars. Well they stopped the attack, 14 of the Soviet tanks could be taken to finnish use immediately in the 1st Armored brigade were they were well needed. A couple of the others were repaired and taken to use later. They were of the type T-26 (the tracked one) and BA3 (and the one with wheels). Have many times wondered if my grandfather destroyed any of the tanks. He died in a battle a couple of months later so no one knows :(

Comparing a JS to a T-34 is like comparing a Sherman to a Pershing.

The T-34 was an excellent tank but wasn't perfected till the T-34/85 with the larger 3 man turret.

The JS had similar armour and a better gun than the equivelent German heavy tank but was much much lighter and easier to manufacture. it could do what the tigers liked to do and stand off at 2km and shoot allied tanks... except of course it was standing off and penetrating Panthers and Tigers at 2km.
