I am not taking sides. And releasing one's personal info here would be wrong. But certain forums often have a "vetting" process by which you are verified by name and your credentials. So, releasing my name here would be wrong, but releasing it to be verified at a place like socnet would not. Get my drift.

Shrek had some good reasons to leave. This forum is being infected by trolls of the worst kind. I won't name names, but that's what I see. It seems like people take things so personally as to attack on another in PMs, and to result in childish name calling. Shrek has showed me alot about his time in SF and Afghanistan via PM. I'll miss him, but I don't blame him for leaving. However, on a postive note, there's still some sanity on this forum.

I don't blame Matchanu for any of this. He and Shrek just had a disagreement on issues where they were both qualified to talk about. They weren't just two chairmandos duking it out.

Hist2004 left already too ... probably time to go out as well. Well,look what I've missed over tha last 3-4 days......seems the whole place has gone mad

The loss to the forum is considerable,and to be brutaly honest,I'm thinking of packing it in as well,too many idiots and not enough genuine military enthusiasts around,the average age for the site is about 16 by the looks of it

I'm leaving Iraq for some well earned leave,this has been a very hard rotation work wise with 2 months solid of 16 hour night shifts,I'm beat I need to recharge my batteries,and address the future,I shall be returning to Iraq,there's still a job to do..............but this place has been scrapping the botom of the barrel in recent weeks,and a lot of clowns have started to ruin it for a lot of people

4 people of whom I respect immensely have left,Tane Angle,Royal,Shrek and CAG 147........4 true proffesionals in their own fields,who have never been more helpful to others............and I'm also considering resigning from here,it's not the same,it's turned from a military enthusiasts meeting place to a place where insults are traded instead of information,where punk assed kids insults true "silent proffesional"

It is a sad time when veterans and military enthusiast alike can no longer meet on sites like this and chat about experiences' and give good advice and insight into world events.
For veterans like myself these sites give me something to hold onto. I know where I have been and what I have done. It is nice to be able to leave my corp. job for a few minutes and see what is going on in the military community. However, in recent weeks I have been prowling the threads and there is not a great deal of intellect to respond to. This site is a great resource but it is failing the military community. Too many people are disrespectful, and I am not just talking about the "Shrek" thing. I wish everyone would use the site for what it was created to do.

I hope it changes!

O.k., let's clear a few things up.

1st off, I did not threaten Shrek in any way about posting personal information about himself. No matter how pissed I would get at someone, posting personal information publically is a violation of OPSEC and PERSEC, things I take very seriously. Besides, I don't have his personal info even if I would do that.

Second, there are "facts" about other Spec Op and regular military units that remain in-house. That is a unwritten rule within the Spec Ops community. People have been ****canned from AD units for violating this rule. Shrek crossed this line, twice, I called him on it, he didn't like it, too bad.

Third, Shrek's story did'nt check out. Granted it was probably exagerated by both sides, but then that's my point, there are always two sides, hence, my second point.

That's all I'm going to say about Shrek. I could go on and on but then it really leads to nothing but one way name calling, something I am now familier with since my temperary banning.

Gentlemen, I can assure you that Shrek's intent was NOT to start WW3. His views, whether agreed with or not, were developed from his OWN experinces. I am certain he did not make such comments so that others w/out such experiences would make snap judgement calls.
