War Nerd. (http://www.exile.ru/2005-June-03/war_nerd.html)
Even if you don't like war, and honestly who doesn't around here, this guy will make you love it. I've been reading his column for many months now, and the style just appeals to me immensly. In fact, the entire mag (eXile) kicks ass, check it out. Everything from obscure little wars like Ossetia, to Fallujah and the importance of the RPG-7. Start reading the archives, that's an order.

Hmm, apparently the thread has been moved from Military History and Tactics. No big deal, though I think the column better fits that category.

I've checked this guy out before awesome articles, he should have a blog because sometimes it takes him a while to update not to mention the Exile site is unstable as hell.

Have you bothered to read more than one piece? Read some more, then talk.

The suicide car bomb is a good example of why I don't worship hardware like most war fans do. These cars are actually no-tech guided surface-to-surface cruise missiles--and damn effective. We've found that out the hard way. All it takes is a driver who's willing to die for the pleasure of killing the enemy. Put him (or her) in an old jalopy stuffed with fertilizer and detonators and you've got a highly accurate, fire-and-forget missile.
They're especially deadly in urban warfare, because they're perfectly camouflaged till they actually blow up. And all for the price of a used car and a few bags of Miracle Gro.
That is very well said when you look at things coldly one cannot doubt the effectivness of the suicide car bomb.
Suicide bombers die smart; they blow themselves up and take a dozen of the enemy with them, and lots of times they penetrate the enemy's most secure areas (GI mess halls, the Green Zone), devastating enemy morale
That statment is very true esspicially with today's attack on the Iraqi Army mess hall.
