That guy has been a HRT sniper and what he is saying on your question basically is: Join the FBI, become a Special Agent, work successfuly for the FBI for some years. After that go on the HRT selection training, the trainers are current HRT members, if you pass, the actual HRT members will vote you in. In other words you can't apply for the job, you need years of practice as an FBI Special Agent, then volunteer for HRT and you have to be chosen by your future mates to get the job.

Well to join the CIA, you simply apply. Nothing special, fill out an application and join the team. Now all things considered, the background investigations are about as indepth as any you will ever see and you better have a pretty lengthy list of quals that would relate to the directorate you want to work in. To get into SAD/SOG/MSP whatever they are calling it these days, you need at least five or six years of military experience.

As far as HRT goes, apply for the Bureau and go through one of the most intensive physical and mental law enforcement academies in the world, then spend about ten years doing field work, including time on your local field office SWAT team(that is if you are not working for one of the little four man resident offices out in the middle of bumbville) then go through the most grueling selection course in law enforcement just to get picked for the team before you even go through the new operator training course and do you probie time to b/c a full fledged rootin, tootin, gold badge totin, HRT operator.
