Could be a sniper? Its definately a PPCLI guy but he is standing in such a way which leads me to believe hes a sniper.
Thoughts?

hard to tell, but IMHo the gun looks more like a C7 or similar assault rifle, not a sniper rifle, which i think would be longer.

though it could be.

I'd say sniper too. Where is the picture from? What context is it in? Like, the arrow in the lower right box, is that showing where he is, or where he's aiming? please attach the link if there is one. thanx

Its either a dude practicing thai-chi or a canadian sniper. If he was holding a c7 there would be others around because most likely then it would be a patroll, but his position on the mountain kinda indicates he maybe (<----keyword) a sniper.

If he is a sniper for a shot from that angle make sure you got one of these and the "dope" to use it....

I'd say the photo doesn't offer enough information to result in geardo speculation.

However, I am really impressed with the terrain in the photo.

I have a heap of respect for ANYONE fit enough to effectively operate at that altitude and that hostile of an environment while carrying their own kit, regardless of the type of rifle carried.

On a side note...even after having taken physics at university I still find it strange that on high angle uphill shots if I don't properly calculate the angle and compensate for it I'll shoot HIGH compared to a shot of the same distance over level ground.....I guess I'm not as bright as I like to think I am.

By the "whale" reference and the sketchy arial graphic I would guess they are refering to a certain ridge in A-stan during the early 02 Op anaconda or Op Harpoon..

It does look like a sniper..... But I wouldnt be shooting standing up like that. In less he is scoping out the area.
