Ruger 77V ?

308W or something more exotic ?

The bus hijack was STG, just after they went full time IIRC.

The pics are quite old- berets arn't used on ops nowadays.

And I *think* the rifle is a Remington 7mm. But don't quote me on that.

Can someone tell me what the shotgun and light is?

TheKiwi

Possibly a Remington 870. That pistol grip layout looks familiar.

edit: Referring to the shotgun, not the rifle.

Rifle is Ruger 77VLE in .308 Winchester. A number are also issued in .223 Remington. These have since been replaced by L96A1 (or the LE equivalent) in .308.

Standard weapons seem to be M4A1 with ACOG or CCO or MP5A3.

Bushmaster M15A3 carbines are now the standard Police rifle, replacing Remington Model 7s' in .223. Unfortunately all the Model 7s' are going to be destroyed instead of being sold to law abiding shooters.

IIRC a lot of the main centres have full time AOS, with Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch having STG as well.

The Police website lists them as part time, but being good friends with 2 members of the Wellington AOS i'm told its bs.

AOS train with SAS 4 times a year I think it is, can't quite remember. Anyway, they know how to lay the smack down.

Edit - soz for thread dig up.

Why do you ask? If it's because you want to play dress ups, I'd advise against it. Last time that happened (that I recall), the bloke got his calf chewed by a german shepherd.

Bushmaster M4A3

For the most part, possibly a few Colt M4's still floating around with those who have been in AOS for years.

Haha nope no dress ups - just interested in the rifle (and the accessories on it) they are using, as they were using MP5's a few years ago but it looks as if they have moved to a shorter CQB styled M4...

You may be thinking of STG, AOS have had M4's / Bushmasters for years iirc, and prior to that I think it was M16's?

Wheke may be able to confirm.

Zorro C9
06-28-2011, 07:37 PM
Yeah STG are/were the only ones using MP5s. AR15s before the M4/BMs. IIRC AOS/STG use M4s while GDB use Bushmasters. Not totally sure on that. Can you shed any light Shad?

Shad

As per the above bro, AOS are using modified Bushmasters (or were? may have changed back) for the most part, but the guys who have been in for ages possibly still have their old Colt M4's. RIS/Handguard/PEQ etc seem to vary on the squads outside Auckland/Wellington/Christchurch.
