Called me up while I was over at her house this past week. He's an old guy that drove a tank for George Patton in WWII. Old family friend I've known my whole life. He asked me to come over, he had something for me. He gave me a Nazi parade bayonet in mint condition in the scabbard with the bayonet frog and a silver and red and black tassle around it. Said he wanted me to have it. He know's I'm an armchair historian. He showed it to me when I was a kid along with some other stuff he'd liberated. ;) It was a really cool thing to do I thought. Don't know what I'd do with the damned thing except hang on to it as a historical piece.
Cool. :D If you don't have any use for it you could still send it my way... ;)

Hehe. Sure buddy. It's chrome plated, never been sharpened. Dated 1938 on the leather belt loop.
Lucky bastard. I once had a knife my father gave me. As stupid a kid I was I once used it to practise knife throwing...which of course ended with the knife getting lost. :(
Years later when I'm at some WW2 army museum I find out the knife was exactely like the old Hitler Youth knife, minus the Swastika...

That reminds me of the guys that show up with some antique Civil War cavalry sabre on the Antiques Roadshow for an appraisal and tell the guy how they used to use it to chop watermellons in half when they were kids... :P

Especially good advice for Joe. We already know how ruthless his daughter can be.... She shot him in the neck.... I'd hate to see what damage she could do with a bayonet!

We'd love to see. p-)

Kinda Ironic.....
My girlfriend got me one of those for Christmas. Not in perfect shape, but really excellent nonetheless. She even made a nice wood box with felt in it to keep it safe. It is a little scratched and the chrome has a couple small chips, but it does have the leather frog. No tassel though. A great gift, since I have a History degree and LOVE the WW2 stuff.

It's in one of the boxes in my garage that we moved from storage recently. I'll attempt to find it tomorrow and take a digital pic. It really is nice. When I posted that I didn't have a digital camera. I do now.....

If I were you California Joe, I would return the knife. That old guy was just trying to feel you out to see if you had any repressed memories of that time your parents were in Aruba when you were 16 and he started blowing you right in the middle of your mother's kitchen. Think back. Then give the knife back. You don't want it that way.

You retards are disturbing. How are you getting your laptops to work while dodging alligators in New Orleans?
