Michael Hirsch's book about "pararescuemen in the war on terror" was ultimately a let-down in my opinion. Though he had unprecedented access to many of their ops in Afghanistan, Hirsch failed to produce very vivid accounts of their missions. There were some exceptions, like a chapter on 3 PJs parachuting to the aide of an Aussie SAS team in close proximity to a mine field. Yet the bulk of the book seemed to focus more on the command structure of the Air Force, the PJ's living quarters or the intricacies of flying a helicopter. In fact, the climax of the book, or so the jacket reads, describes the tragedies of Operation Anaconda largely by quoting a previous article in the Washington Post. Add an author who, to put it lightly, lacks much style, and I strongly discourage anyone interested from buying the book. This is only my opinion, of course, but I figured you guys would be interested...thanks
