Started smoking a few months ago. First a pack would last me over a week. Now it last me about two days. I'd like to cut back to four, then three a day. Has anyone succesfully reduced their nicotine dosage without eliminating it?

If you have your mind set that you only want to smoke a couple a day, yet don't want to quit because you want to smoke, you won't be able to achieve your goal, imo.
When I started, tThe first few months I smoked a pack in about 6-7 days. By the time I quit I was down to nearly two packs a day.. no joke!
I suggest you quit as well, wait a while (two years in my case) then pick up a cigar every now and then.

you certainly won't be staying at that high altitude much if you keep smoking at that rate

mate, it's called self-control.
Put it this way, if you dont stop smoking, you will die much earlier than expected. Depending on your view on life, this would worry most people.

i smoke em when i got em...just test yourself...find a way to make sure you dont have a pack burning a hole in your pocket..,youll probably have one or 2 craves the first couple days...ive been smoking for 3 years now and its a bitch...dont get the gum...dont get the patch or all that bull****...just dont buy cigs but chill with someone who smokes so you can bum one or 2 ever now and then to get the urge out...eventually you wont even notice that ur not smoking anymore

Just quit. If you're serious about it, you'll do it.

cut down to 4 and a half today! Hopefully I can ease myself off.
1 in the morning (all of it)
1 after lunch (most of it)
1 in the afternoon with a cup of java (two thirds of it)
1 in the evening (half of it)
we'll see how it goes :|

Bah. Westerners. No will power.
My parents are still alive today because, one fine day, they decided to just quit smoking. Packet a day smokers, and they just... stopped. No patches, no pills, no nothin'. Not even a cold turkey period. Thirty years of packet a day smoking and they dropped the habit just like that.
Respect.

My father started smoking in 1971 and quit in 2000. Cold turkey. I started in 1995 and quit in 2001. Short time but was down to two packs a day :)
Cold turkey and lot's of water are the way to go.

I smoked for a couple of months a few years ago, nothing too major but I would go through a pack every three to four days. I just dropped it one day, I just didn't like the taste much and I was tired of spending money on that crap. Nothing against anyone that smokes ofcourse, I am just lucky I didn't smoke even more which is expected in my family. Then again, I have picked up another bad habit though, heh.

There was a period of time when i was 17 and 18 that i smoked cigs... basically, i just finally realized how expensive it was, and i just stopped carrying the cash to buy em. Just make sure you cant buy em, and youll learn to live without em.

Dip for a few weeks then stop buying dip, you can last a lot longer without dip than you can without cigs.

Every time that you smoke a cigarette, hit yourself in the crotch with a hammer. I can assure you, you'll quit smoking very fast. ;)
