As in the topic: what kind of music do you prefer??
My favourite is metal, esp. Iron Maiden. "Paschendale" is just masterpiece, as well as "Flight of Icarus".
BTW: what the hell was Paschendale??
I like also classic music, esp. while driving my car.

I think we've had a topic about this particular matter once before, but I'll answer it anyway:
Now, almost anything goes for me, to be more specific the heavier stuff appeals to me alot.
Bands such as Rage against the machine, Impaled Nazarene (Finnish, btw), Static X, and somesuch is excellent.
But, as said almost anything goes besides rap, childish pop and those god-ugly "The Smurfs singing various modern hits vol. 34"-album(s).

World War 1
Also known as the Third Battle of Ypres. This was an area in Belgium. Passchendaele was a ridge over looking an area of predominantly flat ground so its importance was obvious. Anyway the offensive was launched in September and was preceeded by one of the heaviest bombardments of the war . This was combined with double the average rainfall. Consequences:drainage system was destroyed leading to extensive flooding an basically a giant quagmire of mud. In this the British, French and Germans continued to fight. According to the experiences of men who parcipitated in the fighting then men would drown in the mud if they got stuck and the wounded often drowned.
Pretty much anything except classical, r&b and rap crap, and the cheapo cd label puppy crap...

Instumental/Scores and Dance. While most kids on the bus are listening to either Rock or 'Urban' stuff, I'm there listening to the likes of Rob Dougan's Clubbed To Death II (http://music.walmart.com/m/000/93/62/48/43/02/0009362484302.01.01.015.mp3)* and Juno Reactor & Don Davis' Tetsujin (http://music.walmart.com/m/000/93/62/48/41/22/0009362484122.01.01.003.mp3)*. * Music from Audi's '1st' advert (UK).
* Music from the Hel Club Coat Check fight in The Matrix Revolutions.

I prefer rock, metal, blues and punk though I also tend to listen to ambient and chillout albums.
The pinnacle of modern music will always be The Clash, particularly the album "London Calling" (Released the year I was born - 1979).

Rupert, thanx for explanation woot
i listen to soft rock(coldplay),classical(mozart),chill-out(Rui Da silva) music, electronica(The prodigy),jazz(ray parker, norah jones),R&B(BoyzII men). Now as for rap listen to that sparingly because it is full of crap. These rap stars potray black people in a bad light and i hate it.They make all black males look like gangstars, and i am no gangstar.I get funny looks from both black and white folks when i am blasting something like Audioslave or The white Stripes in my car.White folks would be like "i have never seen a black man listen to rock before", and black folks would be like "thats a crazy black man listening to white music".
Almost everything will do for me, except birtney like pop songs and rnb/rap.
Man these days only thing they seem to make is rnb *shivers*

I like a lot of different types of music. I don't like really hard rock and most rap, but there aren't too many bands that I can't find at least one song that I like.
I like classic rock, some country (as long as it isn't too twangy), jazz and blues. I like some of the alternative stuff too. I guess I want to be able to understand the words. :)
I got a new Norah Jones CD for Christmas that I'm really liking, and I listen to my kids' music (most of it).
I guess what I'm saying is variety is key.

I like almost anything except rap, R&B, pop, or country. Mostly though, I listen to rock, classic rock, alternative (i.e. Radiohead), and other stuff.

I'll listen to and enjoy pretty much anything except extremely heavy death metal (I can appreciate the musical complexity, but it just sounds like noise to me), and any rap/hip hop that's come out in the last few years ala 50 Cent, Ludakris, Nelly... it's truly awful ****.
Some things at the top of my list:
Acoustic singer/songwriters like Jason Mraz, Howie Day, Matt Nathanson, Toby Lightman, and similar bands like Guster, Dispatch, OAR.
More of the old-school blues/jazz sound like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, and Norah Jones.
Rock like Coldplay, U2, and Matchbox 20.
Linkin Park.
