Nice surprise

I found this on the official site of the norwegian army.
I didn't think they did stuff like this.

Now I translated it myself, 'cause babelfish won't do norwegian to english.

" During a christmas show for everyone on base, pvt Eivind Paulsrud got a special surprise. After a stand up show Major Bjørnar Johnsen entered the stage and asked Pvt Paulsrud to join him. "I didn't know what to think, I thought I'd won something, but nothing like this" said Paulsrud after the event.

While Pvt Paulsrud watched, Major Johnsen had the audience call for Santa claus, and sant came.
The Major asked Santa to remove her mask, and she turned out to be pvt Paulsrud's girlfriend. They hadn't seen each other in months."

The major also gave them a two day vacation in Tromsø (largest city in northern norway) and a 100$ in spending money.

Apparently theres a tradition, in giving a soldier that has done well a surprise. This year the chosen one was pvt Eivind Paulsrud.




I had no idea that the army did things like this. It didn't say where the pvt's girlfriend lives, but they must have transported her up to the base and hidden her (!) untill the show... :D

I believe they do this in the artillery. they celebrate a saint called santa barbara (?) on dec 4.

They did this when I was in the artillery. We all thought we were gonna wake up to an hell weekend (?). But instead we woke up to the officers giving us breakfast. They told us to take an hour more for relaxing. No inpection they said. Meet outside in your finest uniform.

Later outside they told us we were going to see the newest James Bond movie at cinema, and later a surprise when we came back.

The surprise was a full norwegian christmas dinner, served by the officers. (not all too happy :P ).

They had flown in a soldiers girlfriend, and he was surprised when she served him dinner. They were given two days in Oslo, two tickets for a concert and some spending money.
