You dont like squid? :|
****in... everytime i get fish and chips i get a serving of calamari rings. Awesome little things they are.
Awww I'm sorry about that Stormy...
I looove Calamari. Always get it as an appetizer in seafood restaurants. Except...I only eat the ones in the shape of the ring. The pieces that look like tiny squids, I can't bring myself to eat. :P And I've never gotten sick from them? Just a bad batch. I hope you feel better now!

Well a coworker of mine made it, I don't know what she put in it but it destroyed me and my sidekick coworker. Stomach was in pain like 15 minutes later and still is. That was almost 12 hours ago. I got more gas than the whole Jovian system!

They look good and I had mines with some kind of tomato sauce. I think the result of this mixture was something chemical... bad chemistry.

Yea, that sauce is very popular with Calamari. But man, she must have bought some that went bad, or weren't cleaned enough, or something. That can happen anytime. I seriously doubt it had anything to do with the sauce.
Hope you feel better Stormy  Food poisoning is the devil..

That's the only sea food I like to eat. It's great! If one is ever here give me a call and I'll take you to THE restaurant for calamari.

I was in Dubrovnik sitting on a beach patio, enjoying the local assets while eating a fresh seafood platter of squid, fish, scampi and clams when a pack of stray cats approached me. I heed their incessant mewing and ever so subtly drop some calamari to the ground as a treat for the evidently malnourished strays. To by disbelief and embarrassment, one of the cats begins to choke, coughing and hacking, making quite the abrupt and odd noises. The cat was stumbling about, gasping for air, and I am fairly certain I killed it. Not had I only killed a cat, but I gathered much attention from other customers who didn’t look to happy, nor did the restaurant owners for that matter. I certainly feel terrible for killing the cat, but the expressions were timeless and it was almost humorous in some perverse and odd way. Interesting enough, I am fairly certain I didn’t receive their scorn because I knocked off some off the local wildlife, but because I so rudely interrupted their dinner and had behaved in an unmannered like way. ;)

Me like Tiger prawns the bestest. But Calmari are ok in my book too, deep fried rings preferably, otherwise bit chewy. Too bad you don't get them like very fresh here in Poland, only freshwater/sea fish but not much else. Sometimes I envy guys like flanker or other mediterranians so they can get in right off the fishing boats.
Sorry for your stomach Stormy, but it was probably fault of the cook (and not-so-fresh ingridients) not the Calamari conspiracy against you.
And I'd like to add Herman is a potato man. :)

I can think of several explanations for this phenomena, not one of them was freshness of the stuff ;)

Well, good thing you know.A lot of frozen Squid has been treated with a cocktail of food additives mostly in order to improve colour and firmness, so you may have had a reaction to the additives as Squid is very easy on the stomach.

I had food poison from an old MRE while I was out in the field a week ago. I got nausea, puked my guts out through my nose and mouth, passed out. The clumsy medic tried to stick a needle in my vein for IV bags but he missed it....TWICE. Finally the medical officer was able to stick the needle in my vein for the THIRD time and gave me two IV bags. Oh boy, those IV bags worked like a charm but I had to pee 16 times in 4 hours.
