Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon. I used to research everything there was to research about those 2 guys after I saw BHD. They are icons in my book, someone I will always look up to. RIP guys.

They had a special showing for the 160th SOAR guys who were in TFR the day before the official release. Everyone was really silent afterwards.

The Green Berets did have impressive sets, however the story was biased. John Wayne was a die-hard anti-communist, the film was made in 1968, it was more like a US propaganda film or a really long Special Forces recruitment film.

How can you not have the Duke as your favourite charcter?

The Green Berets....one of the greatest cheesy movies ever. Some great bits in it though, especially when the South Vietnamese traitors open up on Provo with the Fifty, then Captain Nim says "I'm prepared for that" and detonates the explosives under the position...classic.
Best character is a tie between Kirby and Peterson though...Muldoon was pretty hardass though.

I'd go as a far as saying that the film is enjoyable, but not at all on par with Platoon, Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now.

There were quite a few "special showings" much earlier than the day before the movie was released. I got to watch it in the big briefing/conference room in SWC, before it came out.
It was a good time being at Bragg, and getting ready to go to war and watching that movie with all my buddies and stuff.
