Well since I'm currently sick because of my stomach problems I've been waiting to get some Employment Insurance or Unemployment Insurance(which ever you would like to call it) because I have not been working. Well let me tell you its quite the process.
First I figured I would apply over the internet, it just was alot easier then doing it in some packed EI office. So I tried...and the site was down. The site continued to be down for a couple of weeks. Finally it was up and running and I managed to get it filled out and all that good stuff...
Two days later I go down to the EI office to give them my doctors notes which state the problems im having. That went realitively painless, I handed them the notes explained what was happening and they stapled them to a sheet and left.
Me being optimistic figured the whole deal was done with and I'd be getting paid within 28 days like the government said. I was in fact wrong, very wrong. I go to check the mail seeing as I have nothing better to do all day, I find a letter from the government addressed to me. I figure it was a check and I got all stoked about it . I couldnt have been more wrong in my life. It was a letter telling me I had to report over the phone to some teledec system (or tele**** as I like to call it). So I get home and I try to phone in...what do you know there "systems are down" and continued to be down for a good 3 days. Finally last Saturday night I was able to get ahold of them, filed my report. At the end it asked me to call them back yet again and this time during buisness hours to talk to a rep. This morning I wake up, and call in...apparently there phone system was fubar yet again and I got hung up on a few times.
Finally I was starting to get angry. So I called back, finally getting threw to some rep that sounded like she had way way way way way too much coffee this morning. So she takes me threw her whole speel n whatnot and at the end they tell me its going to take 4-6 weeks to finalize my report. She said maybe if I was lucky it would be done in one week...28 days my ass. So now im supposed to call in again and do my lil report dealy on the 17th for no f*cking reason but just to hope that they have finalized my report and hope to finally recieve some money.
The point to all of this is if someone was really in need of this money to put food in there mouth and a roof over there head they would be royally screwed for 4-6 weeks of starvation. Its ironic how they can pull the money off my check to contribute to ei but yet when it comes to me actually needing it it takes a million and one hoops to jump threw. I am not a happy camper, but in the end im going to be the laughing one.
Why you ask? Well lets say on November 11th I was supposed to start recieving $74 dollars a day for ei. Its now January 5th, this means a ****load of backpay. Almost two months, hehehehe  . The longer they dogf*ck the more they are going to owe me.
So in the end I've learned the lesson to save money for the rainy days.
