Frank McKenna, Canada's ambassador to the United States, wants Canadians who live south of the border to help him counter the negative image of their country, perpetuated by the Fox News Channel.

Referring to the popular network's criticisms of Canadian policies, McKenna told the Toronto Star he wants expatriates and visitors to the U.S. to fight what he calls the "Fox Factor."

Maybe the US Ambassador to Canada should try to get Americans living in Canada to fight the negative image of the US that the Canadian media portraits?

Oh wait, the US doesn't care. And neither should Canada.

Just what 'negative' image would that be?

The only thing he mentions are supposed rumors in 2001 about some of the 9/11 hi-jackers entering the US from Canada. This is 2005. I guess it took four years for rumors to sink into the brains of us slow stupid Americans. Geeezzzzz. Canada is obsessed with the US.

PS. In general......Americans do like Canada.

I watched The Hour, but they finished the season a few days ago. Good show if you ask me.

Canada is obsessed with the US.

This is exactly my point. If Canada wants to be treated like an independant country, it needs to act like one. Stop worrying so much what other countries think of you. Just do your own thing.

For example, take the Ballistic Missile Defense issue. Instead of Canada just making a decision on what is best for Canada, the issue becomes:

- If we say yes to the BMD, the world will think we are just the US's lackey.

- But if we say no, we'll look like we are just saying no cause we don't want to look like the US's lackey.

WHAT TO DO?

Canada acts like a ugly teenage girl who is trying to impress a jock (USA). "I want him to like me, but I don't want to look desperate."

Nobody respects a suck-ass.
