Would it offend anyone if I suggested we ship the Iraqi arch (twin scimitars) to the US? I think they would look mighty fine over I- 95 or framing the entrance to the pentagon ;-)

I live right there. There's a mall across I-95 from the Pentagon we could use it as a walk way. And what a view that will be. we probably could see Richmond from the top.

I can't remember if it's that one, or maybe the Iran-Iraq War memorial (looks like two green shells slightly offset), but one of the two is made in part of Iraqi steel helmets from the soldiers who died during the 1980-1988 war.

It depends on who the "anyone" is. The Iraqi people? Would it offend the mothers of the soldiers who died in the Iran - Iraqi war in the 1980s to see a memorial of their dead sons sent to America as war booty? Do even Iraqi women whose sons died in that war see it as a memorial or a "triumph arch" to Saddam Husseins policies? I don't know... do you?

I'm sure you could find some town in the US whose council/legislative body would vote to bring it to their area (worth the tourist dollars at least) but it's a big artifact. It would take a lot of dollars.

Start a fund "vryhpyammoadded"... who knows... the whole world could start shipping the memorials to the fallen dead around the world to each other.

Sorry to push this old thread but it's probably better than creating a new one.

Would anyone of you be so kind and post pictures of this Arch or/and the Baghdad parade grounds ?
A friend of mine and I are currently trying to create a model of this for school-purpose and google, corbis or ap do not give any good results...
Every picture where you can see the hands or the parade grounds itself would be very helpful :)
