Itīs very interesting that they mix russian and western equipment like that. There is not all too many countries in the developed world that does that, Finland is one, but then again they are not in NATO and so forth. A nice one...

Are those FN P90 ?

Yes, the Cyprus National Guard bought a large number of P90 submachineguns and Five-SeveN pistols in 2000... ;)

I thought that the P90 was a police or vehicle and tank crew members weapon.

Cyprus and Russia are rather close. I am an international corporate lawyer and my firm has an extensive practice in Russia. We have had quite a few deals that involved Russian companies setting up offshore holding companies and "captives" in Cyprus. Cyprus is to Russian companies what The Bahamas and Bermuda are to US companies, what the Channel Islands, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man are to English companies and what Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and Switzerland are to many European companies.

In geopolitical terms, Cyprus and Russia/USSR have shared a common antipathy to and rivalry with Turkey. Greek Cypriots also, of course, are Orthodox, so like Greeks share a common religious heritage with most Russians.

Much of Cyprus' non-Russian military equipment, such as the AMX-30s, is former Greek stock, transferred from Greece as Greece received excess weapons from the US and Germany. The process is known as "cascading." As the US replaced M-60A3s with M-1s, the M-60s went to countries like Greece to replace, for example, M-48s received earlier. Greece, in turn, would then transfer older M-48s and AMX-30s to countries like Cyprus. When Greece started receiving Leopard 2s, many of its M-60s and AMX-30B2s became excess, so some of these went to places like Cyprus.

France sold 36 AMX30B2, about 136 VAB, around 12 or more TRF1 towed 155 mm guns, at least 4 Gazelles and some Mistral MANPADS to Cyprus.

A good client by any standard....

Greece had the older AMX30B; I think the Cypriot AMX30B2 were modernized before delivery (unless they were taken directly from French Army stocks since they look very similar to the French Army version on the pics).

Useless info, but anyway. The only norwegian spy caught spying for Soviet (back in 1984) livs and runs his buisness from Cyprus.
