Does anyone know the specifics of their training? In
particular, length of training, phases, etc. Any information regarding Russian Airborne training would
also be appreciated.
Thanks

Shooting, hand-to-hand combat, swimming, phisycal excercises, marches, tactical excercises, etc.
Some parts of training and selection also depend on fleets. Length of conscript service in naval infantry - 3 years. Toughest part is usually the first year.
Some other special training is given to marine recon groups.
If you asked a more specific question, I could give you a more specific answer.
As for paratrooper training, I've briefly answered it in one of my earlier posts.

thanks for your response 16 OBr Spn. I know that Spetsnaz are the elite
of the Russian Military followed by VDV (Russian Airborne). I had read
about the Naval Infantry's performance in Chechnya and was curious about comments that they were some of the best trained troops in the
Russian Military...equal to the VDV. I was just looking to see what that
entailed as far as specific training. Again, thank you for your reply.

VDV has their own "specnaz". Specnaz is not a separate branch of the military, it is group of troops within VDV, FSB, MVD, army , navy, etc. that is trained to conduct certain kind of missions. As for VDV vs Naval infantry....which ones are better: rangers or marines? - it is kinda the same question.

As for VDV vs Naval infantry....which ones are better: rangers or marines?Well, thats pretty simple- RANGERS hands down, as they are actually "elite", there are more schools they go to besides basic.

Thanks to those that responded. I don't want to start a thread about which unit is "better" as all elite units have different capabilities and missions...I was more interested in the content of their training..or
specific courses they attend...i.e. first phase phyiscal training...then weapons...tactics...CQB..survival etc. Especially considering the broad range of missions that they would undertake.
Thanks,

Rangers are jump qualified. USMC infantry are not. Other than that...
GAME ON! :P

Does anyone know the length of their training? How the phases are broken and
How many weeks are involved in each phase. Course content in addition to the
Information that was already provided would be appreciated.
