why this long magazine is curved?? is it compatibile with mp5? or so since i don't see other reason
REMOV

why this long magazine is curved??Because of bottle(cone)-shaped cartridge. Try to imagine that you arrange them in such way that their sides are adjoining together (assume that is one row magazine, but in fact they are one-and-half (like in AKM) or more often two rows). The more rounds you arrange (and the more con-shaped they are) the more curved shape of magazine you get. The angle in 20-rds magazine is small, thats why they aren't curved (see 20-rds M16 magazine for instance) but in 30 and above rounds magazine the shape is more important to prevent the jamming.

is it compatibile with mp5?Of course - NOT.

I think..... oof course the MP 7 is hell a lot better than the PDW from HK(I mean the MP 5 k) otherwise they wouldn't have it developed!!! clear???
or the P90?
Don't know. But it seems that the MP 7 is a weapon of better handling charecteristics. The P90 looks so ... , I don't know. - It's no HK!!!!!!
All in all it's my favorite. :D

This thing will never be able to replace guns like the M-4 or M-16. SOmething that small just wont have the accuracy due to the short barrel IMHO.
Good replacement for the MP-5 series though.

NEVER!!!! equip any conscripteds with that knife, one afternoon and half of them will have wounds by playing around with it!
btw. I think its not that useful, a new bajonett for the G36 would have been nicer... (to replace the NVA bajonetts)

I thought it was never planned to use it for that purpose!
In the beginning it was planed to issue all Leaders from squad level up with the MP7. But the actual planning is, that there will be a "weapons pool", from witch the platoon leader or the company commader can select a specific weapons mix for the following task.

Generellay modern fighting knives look like that. The shape is to cut throu body armour. Just like samurai times when theese dudes where running around with huge arnour.
About the pdw...
Its purpose is to replace assault rifles like m16 among non fighting units. And of course vehicle crew, driver , tank commander etc
cuz its bulky to run around with a rifle when you work at an airbase, staffroom, radarplace and whatever.
Compact and everything but still more powerfull than the casual smg when you get in deep****.

They are soldiers from the Light Infantry Demonstration Bn. The show some of the new equipment, that is planned to be issued to the troops during the following round about 10 years. The wear a possible new helmet and the new NBC suit. The weapons are the MP 7 on the right side an a modified G 36 on the left.

... really sucks though that the MP7 mags will not be compatible with the UCP. Think HK buggered up there to introduce a better system than the P90 /Five-seveN- combo - at least regarding interchangeable mags.

Why can't we compare the MP7 with P90? The MP7 is designed to COMPETE with P90, and take shares of the PDW market! That demands comparison. What criteria is lacking?

agree.
The P90 is also a good SMG however. It's high mag capacity of 50 rounds and very powerfull bullet, made that it already replaced MP5's in many police units and Special Forces around the world (mostly europe).
The MP7 is not really meant to be an SMG, afaik. More a carbine like the M1 to compare it to this WW2 weapon.
Both weapons are however perfect for the PDW job. although I don't know which one if more powerfull and accurate.
If the USMC will give it's pilots the PDW, than they're making a very good choise.

I love the MP7 (and the P90!). But: The 4.6mm and the 5.7mm Calibres are only good at cutting through a bodyarmor, arent't they? I heared that they man-stop-power is not that big. right or wrong?
All in all a good weapon I think and I hope the Bw will be fit out as fasta s possible. woot

You're right.
If you want stopping power than this means that the bullet must come to a full stop inside the body (ideal situation). Hollow point 9mm and .45 bullets do this and have a good stopping power. This is also why .45 was selected for the HK UMP (very good SMG). When you go in as SF, you want the other guy to go down as fast as possible.
The P90 already has JHP (hollowpoint) bullets, which increase the stopping power a lot (and decreases the penetrating power on bodyarmor)
But every bullet is a bullet and when you get hit in the right place, you're gonna feel it. And the P90 and MP7 are not meant to just put a single bullet in your body.

This is also why .45 was selected for the HK UMP (very good SMG).
Also available in .40S&W and 9x19mm. The selection of the .45 caliber is maily caused by the special wishes of the US market. The US guys simply love their good old .45 ACP :D.

AFAIK hollowpoint 4,6x30mm rounds are available too, but I'm not absolutely sure.

4.6x30mm ammo is currently manufactured by Radway Green (RG headstamp) - BAe Systems - in the UK. This is an offshoot of the same parent company that formerly owned Heckler & Koch.
RG makes Ball, Tracer, Practice, blank & Drill amongst their range, I'm not able to access their website currently so cannot confirm bullet wieght/types.
Which other manufacturers currently produce the 4.6x30mm rounds? There must be at least one in Germany. Elsewhere?

Radway Green is the "Royal Ordnance" part of BAe - formerly Royal Ordnance Factory Radway Green of the famed "RG" headstamp.
The RUAG partnership would explain the rest. According to their website RUAG (http://www.ruag-ammotec.ch) produce 4.6x30mm Ball and Penetrator rounds - no mention of hollow point. The penetrator bullet is 2g in weight and has a solid core.

No denying it MP7s are damn cool. But still, I preffer the P90. Not just cause I'm Belgian (and Belgian guns rock), but the MP7 looks so damn...light. It doesnt look as darth-vader-badass-sci fi as the P90. Hehe, but never judge a gun by its looks. I really dont know enough about the MP7's capabilities to make an educated descision on it.
