Shinseki is a idiot. Did you notice he wasn't even present for the State of the Union address last night?

How is it with present day Rangers and their beret issue? I read that they were quite pissed of when the rest of the army boys got their black berets. "Issued, not earned" and comments like that.

http://www.xbox-connection.com/hostedimages/tan.beret

10 square yards/meters too much fabric and gay pride beret badge.

But earned.

Shinseki is not the Chief of Staff anymore. Former commander of the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - D, General Peter J. Schoomaker is now the Chief of Staff if my memory serves me right.

Yes, many former Rangers are still unhappy about the decision.

It is utterly worthless as military headgear. Doesn't block sun or rain. Soaks up heat on hot days. Hard to keep clean, hard to shape, and those of us forced to wear it constantly hear about the "earn" thing. After 15 years of "Leg Infantry" service I can honestly say I feel no honor or attachment to wearing the beret. I miss my soft cap, a practical, no nonsense piece of practical headgear.

What does the Shoomaker's patch represent? Is that SOCOM?

Dominique
01-22-2004, 06:59 AM
If you are talking about the spearhead patch on his left shoulder, yes. It's what the Army calls "shoulder sleeve insignia" (SSI).

The three "tabs" above it are his Special Forces, and Rnager qualifications, and an airborne tab.

The army chief of staff was there, but for some reason he wasnt with the other chiefs, he was next to the coast guard head, about 3 seats over.

Each Ranger Battalion possesses ten . Kawasaki KLR 250 250CC motorcycles “that assist in providing security and mobility during airfield seizures. Most commonly used as listening posts/observation posts (LP/OPs), or as an economy of force screen for early warning, the motorcycles offer the commander tactical mobility.”

All of the bikes are assigned to the Bn's Alpha Co.

His beret is worn properly, On the Rocks, it depends on what country you are from? And how they wear their beret?
As for the US Army Regulation 670-1, he is correct.

crying! more like he fell asleep when coming back from an exercise. You know, you tend to get tired when not sleeping especially much for a couple of weeks. Then when you get inside and the warmth and everything gets to you, one get all musshy in th4e head and very easily fall asleep.

Obviously you have never experienced this.

Have a good day
